1 entertained the ladies of Klippen
and 4mondvitle societies at a
Tlivankofferimg 'meeting on May
.29. 'Readings were given by
Mrs. McLeod of Klippen and
IM•rs, (Hill. Musical numbers were
given by the Verna ladies and
Egmondvilte ladies, also a duet
by 'Misses Barbara !McConnell
and Ruth (Clarke. Mrs. Pitt in-
tro dined
n-troduced the guest speaker, Mrs.
Davidson of Bru'cefield. Mrs.
Davidson 'chose 'as her subject
"The recipe for miaking life
successful". She suggested the
following ingredients: Have an
ideal,' a vision. No one just 'hap-
pens to be successful. We 'must
go out and get. 'things dor our-
selves. (Have enthusiasm, interest
plus energy. There is no place
for (half-hearted 'people. (Culti-
vate'patience. Patience is one of
;the nnost (beautiful, (most 'diffi-
cult virtues. To be kindly and
tolerant (breaks tension. 'Be of
good courage, 'C'ounage has been
called the universal virtue. Dis-
'eouragement causes more fail-
ures, suicides and insanity than.
any other thing. ,Use your head
and do not be carried away with
vain imaginings. Keep the mind
active. The (brain that is not
used becomes 'u s el e s s. Use
strengthens the ?brain. Think
things through and ;Valle your
own 'decisions. Practice the
Go'l'den Rule. Use the Boy
Scout's motto, "A good deed
every d'ay." Have a good sound
sense of hummor. Have a religion
of gladness and joy. A good
(Christian 'hes a lot to be (happy
about. When greed, doubt, false
pride come in, joy flies out. Ban-
ish the thought oaf failure and do
not (be'co'me creatures of circum-
stance. Become women after
Go'd'e own heart.
(Mrs. (Ernest IMc'Clinahey then
thanked the 'guest speaker and
all who had taken part.
