and Mr. and Mn s. Louis Benne-
wies both observed their 40th
wedding anniversary on Thurs-
day, Dec. 1. Mr. and Mrs. Mole
mels celebrated theirs at t113
home of their daughter Ruth.
Mrs, Keith McGill, and Dr. Mc-
Gill, Mitchell, along with other
members of their family, Mr. and
Mrs, Milton Eiekmeir and fancily
of Detroit, Mr, and Mrs. Oscar
Eiekmeir and sen, and Mr. and
Mrs. Ivan Eickmeir, Logan, and
five grandchildren, They were
presented with a gift.
Mr. and Mrs. Bennewies were
surprised at their home in the
evoning when their family gath-
eyed along with neighbors to
celebrate the 000321on and were
the recipients of gifts. They have
a family of two daughters and
one son: Verne, Mrs. Gordon
Miller of McKillop, Mildred, Mrs.
Nowaeh of Ellice, and Edward,
Logan, and tour grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs, OscarElligson
and family of Kitchener with his
parents Mr. and Mrs. Ernest El-
ligson recently.
Mrs. Chris W'. Leonhardt is
spending a few weeks in Sarnia
with her sister Mrs. Alvin Rose
and Mr. Rose. Mrs. Rose is recu-
perating after a recent operation.
Mr. and Mrs. Lavern Wolfe and
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tait spent
Sunday in London visiting Rev.
and Mrs. Walter Becker and also
called on Mrs. George Beuerman
at Byron Sanatorium.
Mrs. Edith Beuerman, Seaforth,
with Mr. and MVIrs. Chas. Ahrens
and other relatives and friends
on Sunday.
Master Maisel 'Rrolfe of Strat-
ford is with his grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Lavern Wolfe for
a few weeks.
Miss Joanne Rock and Mr.
Douglas Aitcheson attended a
banquet of the Mustang phot
ball team in London last week,
of which latter was a 'member,
Mr. Doug. Ahrens, Hamilton, is
spending a few days with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas.
Ahrens.
The annual Sunday School
Christmas program will be held
at St. Peters Lutheran Church on
Christmas eve, Dec, 24, at 8
o'clock. The Brodhagen School
concert will be held on Dec. 16,
Mr. J. Love, teacher, and S. S. #3
Logan, Miss Joanne Rock teach-
er, will be held Dec. 15. S.S. #10
(Jarmuth-School) with Mr. Mor-
rison teacher, will be held Dec. 12

farmers enjoyed a motor trip to
the 'Shur -Gain farms at Maple on
Monday.
The Y.P.S. s11et in the 'Church
on Sunday evening with George
Vivian presiding. The scripture
lesson was read by Phillip James
and Laverne Wallace read a
poem. The topic was given Iby
Alice ISorsdalhl and the meeting
closed with a hymn end prayer:
On Saturday evening the
members of the Y.P.S. had a
bawling peaty at Exeter and
were ,afterwards entertained at
the home of Miss Margaret
Wacker.
'.0he annual bazaar and sale
of work whioh was sponsored by
the Ladies' Aid and the Marian
Ritchie Auxiliary was well at-
tended on Friday night. the ISun
day School room was tastefully
'decorated with 'Christmas colors
and lights. A fine .array of fancy
work, sewing and cooking was
on display and 'buying was Ibrisk.

Parkhill spent the weekend with
her parents, Mr. and (Mrs. John
Wallace.
Mrs. Wilmer Howat and son
Jack, Auburn, visited on Mon-
day with Mrs. Howat's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. David Gardiner.
Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Cock -
well, Jack and Neva, 'Daslmvood
were 'Sunday visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Otto Walker.

'Sharon and Donald, London,
visited over the weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Russell.
Miss Margaret Walker visited

Harold Fischer, 'Carlingford.
Mr. W. J. Dow passed away
suddenly at the home of his son,
Mr. Harvey Dow on Monday.

INDIA LEADS
The constitution of the mew
Indian Republic stipulates that
prohibition shall some into ef-
fect. A committee was set up
last year to 'determine a when and
where. Its report, if accepted by
the government,- will outlaw liq-
our in 214 years—except for
foreigners drinloing in private.
Some sof its .recommendations:
That all liquor advertising be
banned after .April 1, 19516;
That an immediate ban be
placed on serving liquor in bars,
hotels, restaurants, clubs and so -
sial gatherings;
That the plan be completely
ushered in by April, 1958, after
'which time no Indians would
have access to liquor.
It is noteworthy that of the
29 States i11 India, 13 are already
