The interest that IS'eaforth
district'5ans have shown in 'their

again this year, and with this in

Now Is 2,165
Seaforbh's population now is
2,1.65, an increase of 19 over
the previous year, according to
bhe report presented by assessor
W. E. (Southgate to the town
council on Tuesday night. Tho
assessment increased by $9,400
to $1,3.67,595. The dog popula-

Mr. Southgate expressed the
hope that the Court of Revision
this year would not be as busy
as last year's, Which was an all-
time record.
With other meetings in pro-
gress it looked Tor a while as if
council would not have a quor-
um to conduct business. (Finally
the meeting got under way with
Reeve Scoins presiding in the
aibsence of Mayor McMaster,
(Councillor J. Kellar was also
'absent.
Purchase Grader
Minutes of a special meeting
revealed that council had pur-
chased a road grader from Mr.
G. Elliott of (Clinton for $400.
'This is the old Clinton grader,
identical with iSeaforth's mach-
ine, which anade possible using
parts for repair. The Clinton
machine was found to be in bet-
ter shape of the two, so the plan
was reversed. Seaforth's grald-
er is being wrecked to supply
(parts for the newly purchased
grader.
Tax Receipts Up
The treasurer's report showed
tax arrears paid of $9,700, an
increase of $2;100 over same
titre last year. 'Current tax re-
ceipts $93,173, are up $1.0,000
over last year at this time.

was nothing to report from the
parks committee. The reeve
complimented him on the im-
proved appearance of the old re-
creation grounds, which has
been 'worked up.
,Councillor Scott Habkirk re-
ported nothing new from the
fire and water committee. The
reeve said a requisition was sup-
posed to be in from the fitre
brigade for an advance orf $300
on their grant, ordinarily 'due in
December. He explained that
the Fire Brigade had guaran-
teed. !2'600 to the 01d Boys com-
mittee out of their annual grant
to members. A. pro rata assess -
anent of $300 had !been made as
tihe brigade's share towards the
reunion deficit.
Councillor Christie said he had
understood there had been some
Objection to this plan as it
meant some guarantors would
be paying twice. It was explain-
ed that the reunion committee
had relieved firemen from any
personal guarantees.
(Council approved a $300 ad-
vance to the fire brigade to cov-
er their reunion deficit 'guar-

well.. ,Councillor Close said the
police had requested a curtain
across the lower part of the big
front window. A statement from
the builder, Seaforth Concrete
Products, was received for -$4,-

the contract price.
