Three Near Misses Stop Streets Help Traffic Safety How many - iSeaforth !people count as one of their blessings the system of :Stop and Through streets which has'been in use on nearly all streets here for a number of years? Probably not many think about it one way or another, except to !mentally scold the oceasional violator who forgetfully rushes through stop signs. A drive through the back- streets ackstreets of a -town where there are no stop streets enay quickly remind one what 'a difference the stop signs can make. A car from 1Seaforth turned Off No. 8 highway in !Clinton, followed the street beside the ppulblie school and west past the high school to the certain street. At three intersections in this short trip, a sudden halt had to be made to let a speeding car cross the side street. There were no signs to say that north and south traffic has the eight •of way. Yet motorists were recklessly leroAng these intersections at 30 rniles oz' more without slowing down or looking right or' left. Sealforth traffic conditions may not have attained !perfec- tion, but after three near miss- es across half a dozen ,blocks in another town, one is bound to feel that some progress has been made here ti z'edUcing .btreet. hazards.
