COMMUNICATION Editor The Seaforth News,— A remark in your article last week about antique arrowheads on Manitoulin Island inspired me to write these few lines. It is about "No Trespassing" signs going hand in hand with pro- gress. The public itself is to 'blame for No Trespassing signs. No one can be blamed for trying to protect property from the pub - lie. The letter of empty 'bottles and rubbish ori .public 'beaches, or thoughtless destruction any- where the pvtblic has easy ac- cess is proof of 'what happens. Grant e•d most people are neat and careful, but the ma- jority must suffer for the sins of the thoughtless few.- I agree local museums would be a good thing, 'but they too are at the mercy of vandals. Huron 'County 'museum was rob- bed a few . months ago, and only last week the Laura Secord monument was wantonly wreck- ed recked aft Niagara.—Observer. Was Native of Seaforth Robert 0. Montgomery, 59, of Goderich, who died in Victoria Hospital, London, on Tuesday, was a native of Seafortb. He had lived with his son; Corporal Geo. E. Montgomery in Goderich, who has been with the RCAF at Clin- ton since last fall. Surviving be- sides his son, are two brothers, John, Dundas; Guy, London, and his mother, Mrs, Margaret Mont- gomery, Dundas. The body is at the Stiles funeral home in Gode- rich, where services will be con- ducted at 2 p.m, on Friday, by the Rev. Charles Lewis of Wind- sor. Burial will be in Maitland Cemetery. 1101110111.MIMIMIE. He must be getting to be an old dog now, but some read- ers may remember him. The Rist time he showed up, he had remarks to make about, some action of the town council in reference to clogs. lie was unhappy about whatever it was. Fido only shows up in the dog days and it is some years, at that, since we have heard from him. Asked if he had any statement to make this year, he said: "Certainly. Seaforth coun- it ell is to be congratulated on planting young maple trees to fill the place of old trees which had to be out down. Our town will always have beautiful shade trees."
