Electronic brush saves money on costly wire
--- promotes trouble-free telephone service
In little ways as well as big we'l'eul{Pays on the search
for trouble-shooters that will not only protect your
telephone service but keep its costs dowry too ...
Here a Bell technician is testing the telephone lines in your
neighborhood. Carefully and quickly his hand brushes the
circuits in the telephone building with an electronic "line
patrol". He is hunting for weather -worn wires which may cause
a noisy line or snap during a storm.
Forewarned by this periodic testing we send a man to change
the faulty line — which could be the "drop
line" running from your home to the main
telephone cable.
Because of this electric detective we can use
expensive wire until its service life expires fully,
without sacrificing material or manpower. And
that helps us to keep your telephone costs down.

Waterloo Cattle Breeding Association
"Where Better Bulls Are Used"
The month of May, 1955, shows the biggest increase
in. our number of breedings when compared with
the same month the previous year of any month so
far in 1955.
You could benefit by using our services too, if you
are not doing so now.
205 members joined our Association during May,
1955.
1569 more cows were bred during May 1955, than
during May 1954 for an increase of 38.5%.
The Waterloo Cattle Breeding Association is a
farmer owned and controlled non-profit organiz-
ation.
Following is what Artificial Breeding has done for dairy
farmers in Ontario according to the 1954 annual summary of
the Ohtario Dairy Herd Improvement Associations. The table
below shows a comparison of A.1. sired heifers and natur-
ally sired heifers.

Gives Agriculture a Brighter Look
1
9a
Great changes have taken place in
farming in recent years—changes
that have brought new concepts of
crop production and animal hus-
bandry; soil and moisture conserva-
tion ; management and marketing.
Symbol of one of the major
changes in farming operations is
the steering wheel. It stands for
power—power that has been made
available through tractors and
machines to do practically every
job on the farm; power that has
given agriculture its greatest lift in
centuries ---power that has brought
opportunities for a greater partici-
pation in higher standards of living.
In the promotion of "steering
wheel farming" Massey -Harris and
Ferguson have made available
tractors and implements with out-
standing features to apply power
in the modern way. Sound,
advanced engineering, high
standards in materials and manu-
facture, thorough testing, and
prompt efficient service combine to
make Massey -Harris and Ferguson
m:.,;'.vines outstanding in depend-
ability, long life and economy.
