Runners-up for the wardenship last January were Reeve Percy Pass- more of Usborne and Reeve Ray- mond Redmond of E. Wawanosh, The statutes provide where a vac- ancy occurs from any cause in the office of warden when the county council is not in session, the clerk shall call a special meeting of the council at fill the vacancy if required to do so by a majority of members. As the regular meeting will be held ou. Nov. 181.h a spec•lal session is not necessary. A point which the statutes do not cover and which will he arranged among the members, is the custom in Itnron county 03 eleet- iug a warden front among Conserva- tive and Liberal members alternate- ly. The tante warden was chosen by the Liberal members and it is thought likely a successor to fill out the balauee of the year may be sel- a.eted else by the Liberal member's. Iinilien township will probably not have tepreseetatiou at the forthcom- ing meeting of the commit. No nes tigns will be taken until the regular meeting of the township council next Monday when a date will be set for sa nnutinatioe meeting. It is pointed out that there would not bo sufficlent time to hold an clertiou before the comfy council meets. This is partic- ttlarly so at the present time, in view of the fact that a special voters' list will probably have to be prepared, as no voters' list was issued because of the two-year term of office.
