TAYLOR) EAR GOD be kind to those tvho fall tonight amid the din of crowded street, and feel no more the mists of England on their brow, and those, who guarding well Thy seas, now sleep, where lulled to rest by wind and wave they slumber deep. Forget them not, nor yet those dauntless hearts who give their lives for you and I, up in the dim blue reaches of the sky. Make up to them in that far Haven where they've gone, for all they've lost. There is so much — long golden hours and days that alight have been, be- neath an English sun to dream. They'll miss it all,—Green lanes and hedgerows white with bloom and far above a skylark's song; old gar- dens where the roses climb and sun -dials count the swiftly changing hole's. A singing wind that called their hearts away, a wet sea wind—white cliffs by Dover's shore, a seagull's cry that they shall hear no more; the burn where once they played—and oh! they loved it so, yon shadowed woods where the bluebells grow.—The cloister diol and grey, a city's surging roar, the chime of bells from many an ancient tower. Oh! must they never see again the moonlight spilling sil- ver down the glen; the gorse all gold upon the hills, dusk on the moor and road, cathedral spire, or sunset's flange against a castle wall, and lights that shine again when dark comes down? They leave all this—and more, in this dear land of history and renown and give that choicest gift of all — their life, - So that the world be free, and that one flag should float 'vic- torious, - torious, at will, and England should be lovely England still. Oh God be kind to then, make up to then, for all the dear lost years that alight have been. ,11,1un i T ,111.11111101.11.11111111f1011",11p0111"1""11"I,I1111„"",1IIn111,11111111111111111,11111111111„,1111111,1,,,. , was of deep pink roses.
