Miss Janet Mary Scott, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. George H. Scott, of 716
S. Euclid Avenue, Oak Park (Chi-
cago), and granddaughter of Ma's.
George. B. Scott, also of 716 S. Euclid
avenue, and formerly of Seaford[,
became the bride of Howard Warren
Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. C.
Ahrensfeld, 431 S. East avenue, in a
ceremony at eight o'clock Monday
evening in the Euclid avenue Method-
ist Church. A Christmas setting form-
ed the background for the nuptials,
with bouquets of calla lilies arranged
before pine and evergreen, The trees
were artistically draped In sliver and
lighted with blue Rood lights. The
bride was given away by her father
and attended by her sister, Miss Lois
Ann Scott. The bride was attired in
a beige crepe suit and beige hat with
which she wore a brown veil. Her
Sowers were orchid. The attendant
wore a dusty pink crepe gown,
Slade Austin of Woodstock was
best man and ushers were Robert
Ahrensfeld, Frank Schuster, John
Simerlin and John Edwards, Rev. C.
E. Diercks read the service and Mrs.
William Smith played the organ. and
Mrs. William Wright sang 0 Promise
Me. The reception was given for
75 guests In the church parlors,
where the bride's ]pother received in
a dark blue crepe dress with dew-
berry hat. The couple will be at home
in Kansas City, Missouri, after De-
cember the .28th. The bride attended
the Oak Park High School and Mc -
Murry College. The groom attend-
ed the Oak Perk high school, the
University of Illinois and was grad-
uated front the Tri-State university
in aeronautical engineering.

Mr. and Mrs. E. O'Brien spent the
fiftieth anniversary of their eeddin1
quietly at their Inane here on Ince-
day 1541. They had quite a number of
callers throughout the day to extend
eon1ratulations and they were the re-
cipients of many !gifts. On account of
sickness in the fancily only two of
their children were present, Dr. J. H.,
of Elora, and Walter who lives here,

ents with a well-filled purse.
