Faulkner of Sarnia spent the holiday here. The many friends of Mr. J, M Eckart are pleased to hear he is do ing as well as can he expected - in Scott Memorial Hospital. Last Friday while ariroute to Brant Tp., Bruce county, for his daughter who is teaching there, his car was struck broadside by a car coming from Teeswater which failed to stop at the stop sign. Mr. Eckart was thrown out and several ribs were broken. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Eckart were vis- itors with Mr. and Mrs. Nolan in Grey twp. on Sunday, Mrs. R. Hastings of Toronto is vis. 'Hug her sister-in-law, Mrs. Jessie Brown. Mrs, R. B. Hogg of McKillop was the guest of . Mrs. Walter Eiffert, of Ripley, last week. Meets The W.M.S. of the United Church met on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 6, for the birthday meeting In the Sunday School auditorium. The ladies .of the Varna Auxiliary were the guests and the program was fur. nished by them. The meeting was presided over by Mrs. Chandler of Kippen, and opened with hymn 148. The scripture lesson, Israel 6, was read by Mrs. Chandler, Mrs. Cooper led in prayer. A very pleasing duet was then sung by Mrs. Peters am Mrs. S. Beattie entitled "Whispered Prayer'," accompanied at the plane by Miss R. Johnson. Hymn 262 was sung and Mrs. D. Stevenson led it prayer, Mrs. and Miss McClymont then favored with a lovely duet "The Man of Galilee," accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Peters. Mrs. 5 Keyes addressed the ladles, taking for her topic, "Books," which was V(417 interesting.
