solemnized at ten o'clock Friday
morning at the United church manse,
Bayfield. when Bertha Mae. daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. William Hollister,
Varna, Ont., became the (bride of
Harvey 'William Taylor, son of Mr.
(William Taylor, Varna, and the late
{Mrs. Taylor, Rev. H. Currie, pastor
of St. Andrew's United church, of-
ficiated The bride ;was ;becomingly at-
tired in a dress of queen's Iblue alpaca
sheer. 'Mies Willa (Jervis. Clinton, was
;bridesmaid, wearing a dress of tbiaok
atin ;with ,matching accessories. Ro-
bert D. Taylor, Varna, (brother of rhe
bridegroom was chest man and Mur-

also an atttendant. After the ceremony
the wedding party repaired to the

wedding dinner was served. The

On Friday evening the members of
the Cheerio Club gathered at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. William Reid
and presented their daughter Jean

Stewart Beattie read the address and.
the Misses Lillian Elliott and Julene
Stephenson made the presentation,
after which the club members and
their friends motored to Kippen and
danced to Clayton Steeper's orchestra.
Mrs, Webster, Mrs. Holland, Mr.
and Mrs. Nelson of Clinton spent
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs, G. Connell.
The Varna Red Cross Society will
pack a box of winter clothing for the
needy in England, on Wednesday aft
ernoon, Oct.. 9111. If there are any m
the district, who would like to con-
tribute to this worthy cause, will they
kindly bring or send their donations
to this meeting.
The Red Cross Society will meet
