The Ladies' Guild and W.A. of St.
George's Church held a special meet-
ing at the home of Mrs. Bert .,ender -
son on Thursday, June 13. Most of
the members were present - and a
number of visitors attended. Mrs.
Humphries presided over the meet-
ing and took charge of the business
discussions. Rev. Mt'. Watts led in the
devotional period. A short program.
followedwhich consisted of a piano
solo by Irma Watt; a vocal dues by
Jean Mills and Ruth Dennis; a vocal
solo by Miss Erie Baxter and a short
address by Mr. Watts. A cushion don-
ated by Mrs. Shannon and a luncheon
set donated by Mrs. 13. Anderson
were sold in Dutch auction style. The
W. A. meeting was presided over by
Mrs. Hollinger and at its close Lunch
was served by the hostess,
Miss Ritchie was the leader of
June the 12th meeting of the W,M.S.
The theme for the month was our
personalities, a stewardship. the duty
and means of self -development.
Psalm 2 was read, and followed by
silent prayer for (1) our church. (2)
our society, (3) our missionaries, (4)
ourselves. Stress was laid upon the
financial need to carry on the mis-
sionary cause. Mrs. Bryans presented
the study chapter. Personality is
God's greatest gift, This was divided
into two parts (1) the duty of self -
development and (2) the means of
self•develapment. Eleven members
were present. The closing number
was the national anthem.

nephew Mr. John Nottingham of
C'hilliwaek, B.('., spent Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Broadfoot, in
Grey.
Mr. and Mrs. Combs anti family of

week and was present at the gradua-
tion of her son, Eph. Gray. who ob-
tained his B.A. degree.
The regular monthly meeting of the
W.M.S. was held in the church school
root/ last Thursday with tate presid-
ent, Mrs. J. P. Manning, presiding.
who opened the meeting by a hymn
and the daily prayer. Minutes were
read by the seeretary, Mrs. Wood and
business taken up. It was decided to
have as their. guests the Mission
Circle, Mission Band and Baby Band
with their mothers at nest meeting.
Lunch will be served by the W.M.S.
The roll call was answered by a verse
of Scripture containing the word
"Praise." The word for next meeting
is to be "Trust." The treasurer gave
her report. The secretary of Christian
Stewardship, Mrs. F. Tantblyn, read
a letter recently received on Christ•
Iain Stewardship, In the absence of
the temperance secretary. Mrs. J. P.
Manning spoke briefly -on the work.

A few minutes of silent prayer was
observed. Mrs. E. Wood gave the
other half of the report of the Pres-
byterial held recently at Seaforth.
Meeting closed with a hymn and

The '\V.M,S, held the monthly meet-
ing on Tuesday afternoon last at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Pybus of
Exeter. The program was in charge
of Mrs, Wm. Relntnell and Mrs, J.
Turnbull, During the afternoon Mrs,
Alice Cucintore was made it life mem-
ber of the W.M.S. Mrs. D. Chappel
read the address and Mrs. 0, Ryck•
man presented the card. Though
rotnpletely taken by surprise Mrs.
Citdmm•e thanked the Indies in a few
well chosen words. Mrs. Penrose of
Exeter was the speaker Inc the after,
noon. Lunch was served and a vote
of thanks extended to Mts. Pybus.
CONSTANCE
,Miss Ruth Hegel attended a social
evening last Thursday in Stratford at
the honk. of -Mr,, b\IeAldister. The ev-
ening was spent in contests and mus-
ic aud social intercourse. The 'feature
of t'ite evening was a miscellaneous
shower in honor of the bride of Sat-
urday. '\ Wicker boggy .prettily decor-
ated was deafen in by four little girls
and others carried parcels and depos-

wedding march heralded the arrival
of the bride. with her three charming
attenudants. While the register was
being signed, Mrs. S. Statou and
Mrs, R. Mabry sang a duet, Until.
The bride was escorted and given
in marriage by her brother, Mr.
Beverley Ketchen, jun. She was a
beautiful and graceful figure in her
classically simple princess gown of
white satin, with its heart -shaped
neckline, trimming of tiny satin but-
tons on the bodice, and full-length
circular train. A French headdress of
pearls held in place a misty veil of
ivory tulle illusion, and she carried a
bouquet of gardenias and lilies of the
valley. For ornament, she wore a
single strand of pearls.
The bridal attendants formed an
attractive trio—Miss Rosa Party,
/rant of honour; Mrs. Janes Rankin.
of Toronto, and Mrs, Kenneth Zin-
kann, of Kitchener. They wore gowns
of heavenly blue embroidered or-
ganza, fashioned alike, and bouffant
skirts in tiers. the top of each tier
being trimmed with rows of narrow
baby velvet in American Beauty
shade. They wore matching blue pic-
ture hats of bake straw, from which
fell long velvet streamers, and they
carried peonies in American Beauty
tones.
Mr. Wallace' Coombs, London, bro-
ther of the groom, was best man,
The ushers were Messrs, William
Goring, Frank Duff, Murray Talmage,
,Tames Moffat (Listowel) and Dr.
Kenneth Ziukann (Kitchener).
The manse garden was the pic-
turesque scene of the reception after
the ceremony, the bride's table, ex-
quisitely appointed and decked with
lilies of the valley, being set on the
veranda. Mrs. Ketchen received in a
handsome gown of cosmos blue mar-
quisette. matching blue lace trim-
ming the skirt and sleeves, Harmon-
izing' Rowers trimmed her blue baku
hat, and her corsage bouquet was of
Sweetheart roses and bouvardia.
Mrs. Coombs, the groom's mother,
was in a French gown of bisque
lace. The crown of her wide -brim-
med hat was composed of roses, and
she wore Talisman roses and lilies of
the valley. Mrs, Frank Duff, Port
Nelson, sister of the bride, was
dressed in pale pink embroidered
chiffon.
The bridal couple left for Washing-
ton for the honeymoon, the bride
going away in a smart redingote en-
semble of date brown crepe, with
crisp white pique revers. Her hat of
white baku was trimmed with date
brown grosgrain ribbon.

Coombs will reside in Oshawa, at 161
King street east. Among the out-of-
town guests at the wedding were; Dr.

Joseph Hood—
Joseph Hood, highly respected re-
sident of Stanley Township, passed
away at his home in his 771E year.
He
was born in Pickering Township
near Toronto and had resided in
Stanley township for 74 years, He
served as trustee, councillor, also
assessor, for several years. Surviving
are his wife, one son Nelson at home,
three daughters, AIt's. Peter Mc-
Kenzie, Klppen, Miss Anna Mae at
home and Miss Norma employed in
Vittoria Hospital, London, Two As,
tens, Mrs. J. Ilarvey, Regina, and
Miss Anna Hood, Hensel!, sut'vive,
