Mrs. M. Stoneman has returned
home after spending the winter and
part of the spring months with her
daughter, Mrs. Pinnhi, Cromarty..
On May 22nd Mrs. Chambers pass.
ed away at her home. She had been
failing hi health for some time, aad
being of a kindly disposition, many
remember her as a curse. She was a
tailoress, handy and quick at nil
kinds of sewing, always cheerful and

Dr. L. R, Sawyer, Mitchell—
Leighton Ross Sawyer, D.D,S., who
was in bis 42nd year, died soddenly
on Sunday morning, June 2, in Lou‘
don, where he had been receiving
hospital treatment for the year and a
half. He was a native of Mitchell, a
son of the tate George Sawyer and
li<utnia Hutchinson, and had always
resided in that community with the
exception of the time he served with
the 7th Siege Buttery, C.E.F. during
the last war. He received shrapnel
wounds In the arm, in September,
1918. He had been enthusiastic
about baseball, hockey and bowling,
and was a member of the Canadian
Legion and the United Church,
Mitchell, Surviving are one aunt, Mrs.
John Jefferson, and one sister, Mrs.
Muriel Clark, Mitchell, from whose
home the funeral was held on Tues.

Late William Lamont, Zurich—
The funeral of William Lamont,
highly respected resident of Zurich,
and former member of the Huron
County Council, who died last week
in St, Joseph's Hospital, London, was
held on Saturday. The funeral ser-
vice was held at this residence at 2
p.m. and interment was made in the
Bayfield cemetery. Mr. Laitioni, who
was in his 84th year, farmed in Stan-
ley Township prior to moving to Zur-
ich 25 years ago. In that township he
