placing such plants. One hungry cut-
worm may destroy three plants in a
night and it would be an unusual
garden which did not have more than
one cutworm within its boundaries at
transplanting time. Every transplanted
plant should be protected during the
first night and succeeding ten nights.
Protection may be given by winding
loosely about tate stenssome
wrapping paper in such a way that it
extends an titch below the ground
level and two inches above, or a can
with both ends removed will form a
good barrier for the protection of a
transplanted plant.
