A. Norris left on Saturday to vielt her son, Mr. Norman Norris, at Long Branch, and ale° relatives in Toronto. Mrs. John McDonald of Windsor was a visitor here this week owing to the serious illness of her brother, Mr. James Devereaux. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Walker of Tim- mins, visited the former's parents, Mr, and Mrs. W. J. Wacker and left on Wednesday for several weeks' hol- iday in Florida. Yeandle and faintly, Mr. Harry Bossence, Miss Christie Forest, Ken Yeandle and Jack Graff of Stratford; Leonard and Melvin Yeandle of Wind- sor, and Ken Pigeon 01 Brantford. Mr. and Mrs, Fred R. Parsons and spa Walter visited in London on Wed- nesday afternoon last. Mr. Parsons attended a re -union and banquet of. the Amy Club of the Y.M.C.A. of which he was a former member. Miss Roselli Burns spent Sunday afternoon with friends in Dublin. Mrs. Hugh Jack, who was ill in the hospital, was able to return home on Tuesday. A work meeting and tea was held by Mrs. M. Dorrauce's group of tate Ladies' Aid of First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Roghr and daughter Ruth Ann of Kitchener, have been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Strong - Miss Ella Roulston, R.N., of Scott Memorial Hospital, has returned after taking a refresher course at the Nurs- ing School, University of Toronto. A fair crowd attended the euchre and dance in the Parish hall Friday evening. Honors at euchre went to Miss Clara Eckert and Joseph Mei- ady. Agar's orchestra furnished the music for the dancing. The main roads only are open for cars, so that the horse and cutter is the best at present. Mr. Henry Koehler is spending some days on business in Stratford. Mr. August Beuermann is not as well as his many friends would like to see him and is mostly in bed, and his doctor has told him to stay there for some time yet. He is troubled with blood clots In his veins. Mrs. Fred Hoegy is improving a little after her recent illness and is able to be up for a while each day. Mr. Jerry Deorr took a contract to cut 50 cords of hardwood for Wm. Bennewies. The snow is very deep in the bush, which makes it hard work. Mrs. Henry Koehler spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Regele. WINTHROP raven United Church held ite an- ual meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 30th. The pastor, Rev. R. W. Craw, occup- ied the chair and Robert McFarlane was appointed secretary, In his re- port of Session, the pastor stated that during the year four members were by death and twenty-two new members were added during the year. This is the largst incerase or new members in the history of the congregation. Mr. William Somerville and Mr. Lorne Elliott were reap- pointed to the Board of Stewards and Mrs. R. Bolton takes the place of Mrs. H. Alexander who retired. Receipts for the various departments for the year were as follows; General fund, $1208.17; M. and 14£., $191.81; W.M.S.. 024L41; W.A., 8153.24; Smrday School 874.01; Y.P.S., 377.40; Bible -Class, 37.17. The meeting closed with the national anthem and prayer Ity the pastor. Lunch was served by the ladies of the congregation. The Winthrop Y.P.S. held their reg- ular weekly meeting in the Sunday school room this week. We opened the meeting by singing hymn 103, ed by business, offering, minutes and roll call. A reading was then given by Reeta Holman, "To Win the World." Hymn 148. Topic was given by Olive Pryye, on the first and second com- mandments, which was enjoyed very much. Hymn g59. We closed the meeting by all repeating the Lord's prayer. BLYTH The death took place on 'Wednes- day night last of 'James B. Tierney, .who resided about a mile west of Blyth on •the An'burit road. Mr, Tier- ney, who was in this Sit year, had Vheen ill about a week'swi'th pneumon- ia. He had held many 'public offices, especially in Masonic circles, and had been a member of the band 'for many years. Last summer he and his wife celebrated their getiden o ed ling.
