After a long illness caused by a
stroke three years ago, George E.
Henderson passed away at his home
on John street on 'Monday. He was
born seve' u
t six • r•
y Seas ago in 'Mc-
Kilkcsp on the old homestead, son of
the late \Vnt..Henderson, and when
a young roan taught school near
\\'ilrgham. Then' he bought a harn-
ess and saddlery' business in Seaforth,
which he conducted for a number of
years, 'selling out to purchase the
Grip Hotel atthe station, and re-
moving from it to the 'new Com-
mercial. He was widely known to
the travelling public throughout
Western Ontario and took a great
interest in horse racing, being an ex-
cellent starter. Forty-seven years
ago he was married to Miss Emily
Ross, -who survives, together with
two daughters, :Mrs. ('Dr,) H. J.
Hodgins, 'of Toronto; and Mrs. L. T.
DeLacey, 'Seaforth. Also four ;broth-
ers, Robert, Brussels;, Andrew and
James, ;McKillop; John, of Seaforth,
and one sister, Mrs W. Adams, of
Seaforth. The e fimenal which was
:private, was held on Tuesday after-
noon, the services being conducted thy
Rev. J. A. Ferguson and Rev. T. H,
Brown. The :pa'le:bearers were de-
ceased's :four brothers and (Messrs,
John Scott and'Chester Hudson, In-
terment was made in Maitland Bank
cemetery,

Died in' Chicago. — On Tuesday,
July loth, Ellen Doherty, wife of
Fred Eckert, d'ie'd in 'St. Anthony's
hospital, 'Chicago, Ill,, in her 65th
year. The ,body .was 'brought to Dub
lin on the 16th inst. accompanied by
her 'husband, and the funeral took
place from the residence of ;Air.
Fred Eckart ,on Friday lo St. Pat-
rick's .church, Dublin, where requ:ietn
high mass was celebrated 'by :Rev.
J. M. Eckert 'with Rev. Fr. White,
pastor, in the saunctuary. After the
serv!oe her remains were 'laid to
laid to rest in St. Patrick's cemetery,
amid a large concourse of friends.
She is 'survived by her husband;
one brother, John Doherty .of Logan
Township, and two sisters, -Mrs.
