this vicinity on Monday night caus-
ing quite a bit of damage by tear-
ing down trees, It also broke down

was a bee hive. Mr. Charles Regele

A Pioneer Passes.--4vfi': Bernard
O'Connell, who has lived the greater
mark of his life in this -vicinity,
died
on Sunday, July 5th. He had passed
man's allotted span, of life of three
score yeas's and :ten by nearly twen-
ty years. Born in -County Derry,
Ireland, he came to Canada when ten
years of age, and -his parents lived
1 for a short time at Toronto 'before
settling in tMcKillnp on the Huron
road. here he lived un -til fifteen
years ago when he retired to Dublin.
Tie- is survived by his widow, who
was formerly Miss A4ary Dorsey, and
ttso sons and four daughters, Joseph,
at ponce; John, Minnesota; Jennie,
Seaforth; Margaret, Buffalo; Kate
and Mary, at home, and Mrs. 3 o.k.
ldruxer, Dublin. Two sons, Louis
and James,- are deceased. The late
Mr. O'Connell was tite last surviving
member of the original 'family. Al-
though she had been confined to bed
since a year ago last June he was
able to sit up and read, and main-
tained a keen interest in current
events. The funeral was 'held on
Tuesday morning at - St. Patrick's
church, Dublin. Solemn requiem
mass was sung by Rev. Fr. White,
assisted by Fr, McCardie, St. Augus-
tine; Fr. Gaffney, Clinton; and Fr.
Webber, ober, of Hesson, 'Mrs, J, D. 0'-
Connel, of Seaforth, sang two beau-
tiful solos, "The DyingChristian to
His Soul," at the offertory of the
mass, and "'Che Beautiful Land on
High," as the coffin was borne from
the church. The pallbearers were
Messrs. Louis &snd Wm. Dorsey;
Joseph Dorsey, Seaforth; Harry and
Leo Fortune, and Frank Evans. In-
ternrent was mad in St. Colurnban
cemetery ',rite late Alr, O'Connell
had a very wide circle of friends who
