United Statue shippers made a profit
of $90. The pitiful plea is also
anade that the poor settler would
be deprived of an income from his
by an embargo. The answer to that
is that the United States manufactur-
ers would be forced to move their
mills to. Canada as they did with
their lumber mills when Canada
put an embargo on logs and thus
the settler would still have his
market. But the vast bulk of this
wood is on government lands. And
the plda that fire or insects would
destroy it if not sold, is answered by
the fact that the timber has stood
there for centuries and there is no
reason to believe that it would not
continue to do so.
