GODERICH,
William Watson, a well-known
young farmer, met with a distressing
accident recently. Hewas engaged
in cutting hay and while trying to
throw the cutter out of gear his right
hand was drawn into the rollers. Be-
fore he could stop the knives 'his
hand was drawn to so .far that it\was
cut off at the wrist and 'the forearm
so 'badly mangled above the wrist
that part of it had to be amputated.
Watson suffered terrible agony be-
fore medical relief was obtained.
Judging by the feeling of the iocat
citizens towards the new town hall,
as 'shown by the plebiscite 'taken
Monday, the new council will prob-
ably forego the matter Inc'another
year. The majority was only a dozen
for the new building. The 'citizens
and business men as a rule agree.
that -a new municipal 'building is'
necessary and feel that if something
more definite as to cost' and situa-
tion had been included itt the vote,
the result 'might 'have been different,
The Boll also showed that the
local ratepayers do, not think their
servants worthy of their hire. Of the
three o8 last year's council only one
of thein' was returned, the new mem-
bers going in on the slogan, "No
Pay."
