ment on the 'business pre-
mises of J. A. Johnston
Company Limited.
WHEREAS The Municipal Act, R.
S. 0. 1960, Chapter 248, Sateen - 388,
sub -section 62, provides authority to
Municipal Councils to peas a By-law
with the affirmative vote of not loss
than three-quarters of all members of
the Council, and the assent of 11013 less
than two-thirds of the electors qualified
to vote an money bylaws wIso vote On
the by-law fixing the assessment of ser
tain Industrial properties.
AND WHEREAS J, A. - Johnston
Company Limited have applied for a
fixed assessment in respect of a busi-
ness being commenced by it on. the
premises in the Town of Seafo'th being
composed of parts of Lots 1, 2 and 3 as
shown on Reg'ister'ed Plan No. S for the
said Town or Seaforth.
AND WHEREAS the saicl,J, A. John
aton Company Limited has not - hereto-
fore been
ereto-fore-been granted a fixed assessment by
the Corporationof the Town of Sea -
forth,
AND WHEREAS there is no industry
or branch of an industry of a similar
nature established in the MunioipalitY
other than Seaforth Shoes Limited which
proposes to carry on business in the
aforesaid premises of J. A. Johnston
Company Limited and which company
has consented in writingto the granting

AND WHEREAS the Municipal Coun-
cil of the Town of Seaforth deems it ex-
pedient that such as by-law be passed.
NOW THEREFORE the Council of
the Corporation of the Town of Sea
forth enacts as follows:
(1) That J. A. .Johnston Company
Lfmited be granted a fixed -assessment
on the premises to be occupiedby them
for manufacturing purposes and being
composed of parts of Lots 1, 2 and 8 as
shown on registered Plan No. 8 for the
Town of Seaforth, for a term of 10
years commencing with the year 1958
and ending with the year 1967 both in-
clusive,. being the assessments on which
the taxes will be levied for the yea's
1959 to 1008 both inclusive, at a fixed
sum of 37300.00 including land anal
buildings erected in 1908 or 1959, and
the business assessment for the said
premises during the same periodshall
be calculated on the said fixed sum of
37.300,00,
(2) That the fixed assessment so pro-
vided for above shall not apply to or af-
fect taxation for school purposes. -or l0 -
cal improvements,
(3) That the Clerk of the Corpora-
tion of tho Town of Seaforth take- the
necessary proceedings as requiredby the
natal Municipal Aet to obtain a vote,of
the ratepayers as required be/ the amid
Act.
(4) That this. By-law small come into
effect after receiving a third reading
and final passing thereof.

TAKE NOTICE that the foregoing is
a true 501)1 of a proposed By-law of the
Corporation. of the Town of Seaforth to
be submitted to the Vote of the electors
at the annual municipal election,
AND FIAT if the assent of the elect-
ors is obtained to the said proposed By-
law it will be ,token into consideration
by the Municipal Council of ,the said
Corporation at a meeting thereof after
the expiration of 0110 month from the
date of the first publication of this no-
tice, which shall be on the 203111 day of
November, 1909.
AND THAT the 9th day of December,
1958, at 11 o'elock on the forenoon at
the Municipal Offices in the Town Hall
has been fixed for the appointment of
persons to attend at the palling places
and at the final summing of the votes
by the Clerk immediately after the dos-
ing of the polls.
AND THAT any tenant entitled to
voteon such By-law and desiring to vote
shall, not later than the 1511110 day be-
fore the day appointed for taking the
vote, Ole with the Clerk the Declaration
provided by the Municipal Act, R.S.O.
1918, Chapter 243, Section 279 (8).
AND THAT any Corporation desiring
to appoint a nominee to vote on its be-
