TWO..year-old Brian Alderclice,
son al Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Ald
erdice, of Tuckersmitlr twp. was
found smothered under a pile of
straw in the hay loft 08 his fath-
er's been about 12, 30 Tuesday
noon.
The little boy went to the barn
at 10.30 that morning with his
father, brother and sister. IIe
went to the hay loft to play
Awhile the three others stayed in
the stable on the ground floor.
When the father and two child-
ren went in for dinner at noon,
the little boy could not be pound.
Mrs. Alderdice -joined her hus-
band in a search of the barn and
Eotnci the child face down under
a pile oe straw.
Police believe the child was
playing under an over -hanging
ledge of straw when it gave way
• and buried him,
The little fellow had been in
the loft more than two hours,
Ontario Provincial Police Con-
stable Cecil Gibbons of Exeter,
and/Dr, J. C. Goddard, coroner,
of Hensall, investigated.
Survivors are his parents, bro-
ther Carry, and sister, Lynn.
The body is resting at -the fam-
ily 'residence, con. 12, Tucker -
smith . where services will be
held Thursday at 2 p.m„ with in-
terment in Egmond-rille Ceme-
tery,

November meeting Tuesday aft-
ernoon, Nov, 11th, airs. R. J. Doig
presided over the meeting. The
roll call was answered by an old
proverb or saying. The minutes
of the last meeting were read by
Mrs. Gordon Papple and Mrs. L.
Carter gave the •treasur'er's re-
port, \Irs. 11. Hugill informed the
ladies of the social events for the
winter which are as follows: A
dance on Dec. 31st, 1958, and em
clues on Jan. Oth, Jan. 30th, Feb.
13th, Mar. 0011 and Mar, 20th,
Mrs. Elmer Stephenson presid-
ed for the program and opened
with two poems on Armistice
Day. Two minutes silence was
observed in memory of the sold-
iers who died in the wars, follow-
1-.J1y prayer. A poem "The men
of Earth said" was -read by Mrs.
•Stephenson and followed by a
prayer. The motto "The cost of
I•Iigh Living" was taken by Mrs.
Alex Pepper. Reports of the Lon-
don area convention were well
given by Mrs. Leonard Strong
and Mrs. Graham Kerr. Mrs, G.
Richardson and •airs. G, Mander-
son sang two lovely duets "Tul-
ips and Heather," and "Each step
of the way". Mrs. Alex Pepper
and Mrs. Earl Papple gave re-
ports froth the Institute Rally
held at Exeter, Nov. o'tll, The
meeting was closed by singing
"God save the Queen". Lenon
was served by the committee of
Mrs. Leonard Strong, -Airs. Gra-
ham Kerr, Mrs. R. 31. Scott and
Mrs, Barton.

tion was held in the School Audi-
torium on Tuesday evening, Nov.
18, with Mr's. Dale Nixon presid-
ing. The meeting opened with
"0 Canada" and The Lord's Pray-
er". The minutes of the last
meeting were read and approved,

There passed away Nov, 12 in
St. -Marys Hospital, London, in
the person of Hugh McMillans in
his 01st year, san of the late
Thigh McMillan and 'Isabella Mc-
Innis, Mr, .AcMillan was horn in
Tuckersniith on Lot 7. con. 10
where he has resided all his life.
In 1894 he purchased the farm
on the 9thcon, of Tuckersniith
which he owned until his death.
On Nov. 8, 1895 he was united in
marriage to Mary Ann Gormley
who predeceased hien in July of
1944, also two sons have passed
away, John in May of 1945 and
Francis Alexander in 1949; two
of a family survive, Sister Mary
Frances of St. Joseph's Order,
Delhi, and Hugh at home. The
•funeral was held from the Cleary
Funeral Home, Seaforth, to St.
Janes' Church, the Rev. A. E.
Morris, nephew of the deceased
conducted the services at the
.011unit and at the cemetery with
the Rev. Charles Sullivan, Pastor
al St. James' Church, and the
Rev. Van De Vleek of the ptirish
of Delhi assisting. The pallbear.

meeting, very interesting reports
of the Provincial Convention of

ly in Toronto were given by the
delegates, Mrs. :Harold Whyte,

Vice. Pres.. Hospital Auxiliaries
will be more than ever necessary
when Ontario Hospitalization be -
values effective Jan. 1, 1959. The
plans were made for the annual
turkey draw and for the Christ-
mas meeting.

Dauphin, on Saturday, Nov. 8th.

Arthsir Bolton
Receives Promotion
Air. T. R. Ililliard, Director of
Agrieultural Extension for the
Province of Ontario has announc-
ed that Mr. Arthur S. Bolton h8,s
been promoted to the position of
Associate Agr. Representative.
Mr. A. S. Bolton was appointed
to the Extension Services of the
Province shortly after his grad-
uation from O.A.C., Guelphs, in
1955. He has been the Assistant
Agricultural Representative in
Huron County since that time in
charge of 4 -II club and Junior
Farmer work. Mr. Bolton special-
ized is agricultural engineering
while at 0.A,C.
MERRY MAIDENS
At the first meeting of the Sea -
forth Merry Maidens Club. Jean
Broadfoot was elected president.
Carol Carter was named secre-
tary and Erma Townsend, press
reporter. Pianist is Joyce Brown
and treasurer, diary 'McGregor.
The club known as the Cereal
Shelf was held at the home of
the leader, Mrs, Whyte. The re-
cord books were discussed by the
members. Notes were given on
"Pattern of everyday eating
and also "'What do we mean by
cereals?" The group then prac-
tised measuring dry and liquid
ingredients accurately. A delici-
ous lunch was then served.

Following a y'ear's illness, Mr's.
Isaac 3letavin passed away about
8 o'clock on Wednesday morning,
Nov. 19, Mrs, McGavin was in her
80tH year. She was formerly Lot-
tie McCully and Waa born in
Westminster 'Township .and re-
ceived her education at Con-
stance. Int 1900 she and 3Ir. Mc -
Gavin were married at the Con-
stance Parsonage. They farmed
in McKillop until retiring to Sea-
forth in 1950, residing on East
William Street. Surviving besides
her husband are a brother and
sister, George McCuila, Stratford,
and Miss Bella McCu111t, Seaforth.
The funeral will be held on Fri-
day, Nov. 21 at 2 o'clock, from
the G. A,_Whitney Funeral home,
Goderich St„ to Maitlandbank
Cemetery. Rev. J. C. Britton of
Northside united Church will of-
ficiate.
FOUR DOGS TAKEN
Tour stray dogs were picked
up in- Seaforth during the week
under the recent proclamation.
Two of the beasts were slated
for liquidation on Wednesday, if
not claimed.
"The dogs run too fast," street
foreman Harold Maloney gave as
the reason why more dogs were
not captured. One animal was so
vicious no one could approach it,

On Friday evening Nov, 7th at
9.45 pen. the Pot Luclt congrega-
tional dinner was held in the
Church School room at Northside
Church. The occasion marked the
presentation and adoption by the
congregation of the budget for
the year 1959.
After a fine dinner, served by
thio members of the W.A. and en-
joyed by all present a shot wor-
ship service and a film presenta-
tion, "Seek ye First" on the sub-
ject of Stewardship was present-
ed. Mr. Ernest Williams, secre-
tary of the Board of Stewards,
then outlined the budget require-
ments for the year 1959 as pre-

tinetion in being the first winner
of the World 'IIay Championship

pany. Bob is also winner of the
championship in white beans for
the second year in a row, on his
variety of Sanilae beans. The Re,.

who also showed the sanilac var-
iety. This seed was brought in
from a disease free area in Mich-
igan and was sown by the 4-1l
Club members. Other winners in
