Mr. Harold Finlay and family spent an evening with Mr. and Mrs. Menne Steckle and Stewart, HENSALL Mr. Ron Mock, who, underwent an operation in St. Joseph's Hos- pital, London, was able to return to his home last week. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Elder of Hamilton were recent visitors with the latter's father, Mr, John Passmore. They also attended the Passmore—Bell wedding in Car- mel Presbyterian Church on Sat- urday. Mrs. Annie Saundereock visited during the pa* week withher son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Donaldson in London. Miss Marguerite MacDonald of London was a recent visitor with friends here, APPEAL FOR BLIND Next Saturday, Sept. 20 marks the beginning of the annual ap- peal for funds being made by Me Canadian National Institute for the Blind. ' This year the C.N.I.B. needs 56,000,00 to con- tinue its service work la Huron County. Over the past year, the 61 blind men and women of this county received a variety of ser- vices, from welfare assistance to employment. Library books printed in braille or moon type or recordedon. the special rec- ords called talking books, were enjoyed by 17 sightless people. Pre-school children received help - Ertl Instruction through the vis- its and counselling of a pre- school specialist. The blind child creates unque and difficult prob- lems to its parents and the as- sistance from the C.N.I.B. Coun- sellor provides encouragement and practical guidance. Ed Wheeler, C.N.I.B. Field Sec- retary for the counties of Elgin, Huron, Middlesex, and Perth, to- day launched the annual appeal for funds. Letters are being sent to the residents of this county and eacl . one is being asked to an,PPert the comprehensive pro- gram of the C.N.LB. The camp- aign begins on Saturday and this year the Huron County Advisory Board Is endeavoring to raise $6,000.00. The local campaign chairman. E. C.
