Master Ross and Donny Jewitt visited with Miss Lillian Adams of Clinton last Saturday. Mr, and Mrs, J. Davidson and Andrew of Seaforth visited with Mr. and firs. Earl Lawson and Reg. Mr. and Mrs. Borden Brown, Joyce and Elaine visited with friends in Hanover on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Cunningham of. Auburn spent Monday with. Mr. and Mrs, Charles Dexter. Last Friday afternoon and ev- ening many of the ladies and children of S. S. -No, 3, Hullet at- tended a trousseau tea held in honour of. -Miss Shirley Hamilton (bride-to-be), at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Hamilton. Mrs. Alice Fox and daughter Leslie, .anti, sister of the Messrs. Wm. and Wilbur Jewitt left Tues- day afternoon for their return trip to Regina, Sask. W. A. and' W.M.S. The regular meeting of the Con- stance W.A. and W.M.S. took place in the basement of the Church last Wednesday evening July 9th. The W:A. was presided over by the Vice Pres., Mrs, Me- Ilwain in absence of the pres., and opened by singing hymn 242 followed by the Lord's Prayer. Minutes of last 'nesting were , read and adopted. Business was transacted and Treasurer's re- port given. A donation of $25.00 was voted to be given to Lions Park, Seaforth. The WMS was presided over by Mrs. Brown and was opened with. prayer followed by hymn 390. Scripture lesson was read by Mrs. F. Riley from Psalm 119. Minutes of last meeting, were read and 'ad- opted and business transactions followed. Members with used Christmas cards to have them. handed in to Mrs. Frank Riley by the end of July. It was decid- ed to not have an August meet- ing. The Societies for the Fall Thankoffering meeting were de- ckled upon. .The program was conducted by Mrs. W. L. Whyte as leader and assisted by Mrs, Addison, Mrs. McIlwajn and Mrs. Brown tatting Mrs, McGregor's place in the program prepared on the Service of Worship. The theme being "The Bible and Prayer". Mrs, Wni. Jewitt assist- ing at the .piano through'out the program. Mrs. Whyte' expressed the thought of Prayer and read- ing of the Bible is OS important now as in the time of forefathers and fathers back to the time when Christ spent as much of FIis time as possible in prayer with His Father, and that great pray- erful study of the Word of God feeds fires of devotion and that we need the Bible for the Bread of Life. Summing up that all this theme means that every be- liever who would live in Christ must have a time set apart for personal communion with (Pod, Hymns 41, 137 and 346 were sung at different times thiroughotit the program and Mrs. Whyte closed with the Benediction; .KIPPEN Master Dennis Harkness of Parkhill and 8 years old, grand- son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Coop- er received word 'while visiting hs grandparents, he was^one, of the lucky winners, in guessing the weight of Slippery, the Sea: Lion, and received 510;00 plus a real photo. of Slippery from Tra- der's Dry Cleaners, London. Miss Marian Pepper is visiting in Blyth at the Home of her aunt, Mrs.. W. Good. and is assisting at the Bible School at Auburn. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Harkness, Jim, Sandra and Dennis of Park- hill were weekend visitors of. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Cooper on Sun- day. Mr, and Mrs. Dan ,Cooper and Michael of Exeter visited with their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Schneider and children of Stratford visited Sunday evening with the latter's. father, Mr. Robert Thomson.
