McDow- ell at Auburn on Monday, Miss Marguerite McD o n a 1 d spent the weekend with Misses. IL and Marie Elliott. Mr. and Mrs. W. Ross visited in Buffalo for the. weekend. The June meeting. of the W.A. was held- in the school robin of the Brucefield United Church on Thursday, June 5th. The meet- ing opened with singing hymn 383. In the absence of Miss Eyre, Mrs. Douglas read from John 1: 1.9, Mrs. ISigin Thomson then gave the topic, "Go Tell, for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard". The W. A. Creed was repeated by all. The secretary's report was given by Mrs. D. Triehner. Th ankyou notes were read from Mrs. Ald- winkle, Mrs. H. Dalrymple and Mrs. S. Wilson. Miss 114. . Swan reported for the kitchen commit- tee and gave an account of the dishes purchased for same. The roll call was answered by a gift of a new dish towel. It was also moved by Mrs, R. Scott that we send $10 to the Blind. Plans were also made for the StrawberrY and Ham Supper on the 16th of June. Mrs. Rosa Scott kindly in. vited the ladies to her cottage at Bayfield for our July picnic on July 9th, a committee as follows; Sports—Mrs. J. McGregor. Mrs. C, Horton, Mrs. F. McGregor; Lunch; Mrs, B. Walters, Mrs. W. Broadfoot, Mrs, W. Pothering- ham, Mrs. J. Broadfoot, Mrs. F. Rathwell, Mrs. J. Aikenhead, Mrs. N. Baird and Mrs. H. Tay- lor. The meeting closed with the hymn "0 Master let me walk with Thee". Group 4 had charge of the program and a dainty lunch was served. The businessmen shar- ed the cost with the township to Make this possible and it 'sure WINTHROP The 1-Ielping Hand Mission Band will meet in Cavan Sunday School room on Saturday after- noon, June 14th at 2 p.m. The WMS and W.A. of Cavan, Winthrop, held a special meeting and bazaar on Wednesday, June 4th with the ladies of Constance and Burns as their guests. Mrs. G. Smith presided and Mrs. F. Johnston was organist. The scrip- ture lesson was read by Mrs. R. Doig, after which Mrs. W. Little led in prayer. The words of wel- come were extended by illrs. Geo. Case. Mrs. Smith read a poem en- titled "June" followed by a Medi- tation on "Love". Mrs. W. Jew- itt of Constance read a poem "God in the Garden", Then Olive Little gave a reading "The Faith- fuI Few". The offering was taken by Mrs. A. Somerville and Mrs. K. Beattie. We were then favored with an organ solo by Miss Beth McEwing of Burns. Mrs. Smith introduced the guest speaker, Nlrs. Robt. McMichael. Mrs. Mc- Michael chose as her subject rowing in Stature". She -stres- sed that we must grow in stature through sharing, by overcoming difficulties, by faith, by prayer, by kindliness and by observing others. Words of appreciation were expressed to all who'contri- buted to the meeting by Mrs. W. Dodds, Loire. Summerell closed the meeting with prayer. A very successful bazaar and social time was held after the worship service in the sc1 ool- room.
