Stewart Bros. BANNER COUNTY AYRSHIRE AWARD Each year the Banner iCoun- ties Ayrshire Club recognize the outstanding 4•4H members from each of the 'Counties in the 'Club ]District. This year ithe top mem- ber was selected from each of the Counties 'and asked to write an examination which was pre- pared by the ISearetary Field man of the (Ayrshire 'Cattle Club. First 'place in the competi- tion went to Don Lobb. r.r, 12, Clinton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Lobb, who live on. the 16th con. of 'Goderich twp. Don had score of 81 'out of a pos- sible 88 on the Ayrshire Quiz, and wins the registered 'calf do- nated by Mr, 'Wilfred Barnes of Petersburg. Don's calf its regis- tered as "Woodway Sunshine” and was sired by Knotcherra Sunbeam 'Kap.) 'and out of Glen Campbell Nora 2nd. Don is 18 years of age and has bean 'an active 4 -Ii member since 1196.2. Don has completed ' ten 4-81 projects and has 'always stood in 'the top six 'according to the Basis of Awards. Second prize in the Banner 'County Ayrshire (Competition went to David Ballantyne of Stratford with a score of 69 out of a possible 88 points and 8rd prize went to John McKenzie. First prize winners in this com- petition are barred from next year's competition. KIPPEN 'Children of pre-school age were special guests of Kilppen East W. S. at the Christmas -meeting for whioh Mrs. Stewart Pepper was hostess, with Mrs. E. Whitehouse as co hostess. Recitations by Dianne McKay. Brad Finlayson, Janice Eyre, Barbara (Gemmell, Dona Jean Whitehouse and Katherine Mc- Gregor were enjoyed. Members answered the roll Gall with "Christmas cake ingredients and what country 'they came from". Miss Margaret (McKay comment- ed on the motto "Christmas— what does it mean to you". Mrs. James McNaughton gave Christ- mas story and Mrs. 'Pepper gave the history of the• 'Pepper farm. Mrs. McDonald and Kath- arine MoGregor contributed pi- ano solos. Ten dollars was voted to 'the Children 's Shelter at God- erich; and pyjamas 'made iby the members will be forwarded .to the War Memorial Children's Hospital, London, in January. Mrs. Pepper and Mrs. Alex McGregor recently took a course in hooked rugs and Mrs. Pep- per .offered her borne • for any- one wishing to take this course, classes to start Jam.' 7. A gift -was presented to Mrs. Verne Alderdice, who had made the Christmas cake for 'lite Bnanch benefit for the past two years. Members exchanged gifts and -the children were given treats ,from Santa 'Clangs. The f'o'llowing were in charge of 'ar- rangements for the meeting: Mrs.(Ross ,Birowdfoot, Mas. Wm.
