A basket of flowers was plac- ed in the chancel of St. Peters Lutheran Church on Sunday from the 50•th anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. (Henry C. Diegel, which was observed on Thurs- day. A number from here attend- ed a reception at the town 'hall, Mitchell, .on IThursday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Henry E. Diegel's 50th anniversary. A. business period included the reading of the treasu'rer's report given in ,Miss Mae .Smlith's absence by Miss Rena McKenzie. This report showed a very successful year financially and the ladies are to be congratulated for their effort towards 'their share of the church renovations. A. committee was named to look after candy for the children for the annual 'Christmas concert. It was 'decided to cater for the Tuckersmith Federation of Ag- riculture banquet in Tannery. This part of the meeting closed with the Mission Thence Song, "We'll Sing in the Morning, the Song )of Salvation". The W. M. 'S. meeting was conduclted by Mrs. J. Semple, 1st Vice Pres., in Mrs. A. Pep- per's absence. The animates of the November meeting were read by the secretary and a card of appreciation from 'Mrs. S. Townsend and family. Mrs. :A. 0. Routledge gave ithe treas- urer's report showing that our al'loc'ation will be exceeded by a substantial amount by Dec, '3'1. Reports of the year's work 'were 'given from the 'different gdep'artmental secretaries. Following the singing of the hymn "Gentle Mary Laid Her Child Lowly in a ;Manger", the offering was re- ceived by Mrs. R. Tyndall .and 'Mrs. E. Stephenson. As an op- ening for the Christmas pro- gram a Christmas poem was read by Mrs. 'Semple, Mrs. Jas. McIntosh read the scripture lesson from Matt. 2: 1-12. A very lovely solo; a German Car- ol entitled, "A hristmas Tree" was sung by Mrs. Durst. Mrs. E. Cameron read a •Ohrlistmas Story, "Little Susan's 'Christ- mas". We were pleased to have our new friend, Mrs. Hansen sing a Christmas Carol in 'the Danish language'. As a closing Mrs. Semple read "How the Great 'Guest Came". This was followed by singing /be'Carol "'Silent 'Night, Holy Night", and prayer by Mrs. 'Semple.
