1031 Dec, .19th 21 adults and
8 children of the ' Fireside
Farm tFortlm' 'met at the home
of Mr. and IMrs,.'Jiml Howatt to
discuss topic, 'Import 'Controls.
(11) Coimmodities we are, mainly
interested in pertain to mixed
farming, 'beef cattle, 'hogs, dairy
and poultry products. (2) S'm-
port controls . affecting our com-
modities are those on 'hogs,,
poultry and (butter oil. 1(3)- We
believe in .embargo on any 'pro-
duet'which aright spread 'disease.
The duty. on we aind pork is
beneficial. A seasonal tariff is
often more benefit than a year-
ly one. There are times !w:hen
import controls on fresh fruit
and vegetables are a great :ben-
efit to our producers and at
other 'times of the year they
'are costly to consumers. The
dairy producers must be satis-
fied with conditions or there
would not be so anany farmers
changing to a dairy program.
The,president read a thank -
you note from 'Mrs. Wen. Dol -
mage for a box of fruit. Mrs.
Tebibutt expressed willingness
to complete Mrs. iDolmage's
term of office on the box com-
mittee.
