The Seaforth District High School Board will offer the following
proposed courses
1. SEWING—Elementary Course; Selection of material, pattern alteration, shortcut,.
making simple clothing,
2. CO 0 KI NC—Advanced course.
3. WOODWORKING—Basic ha-nd tools and how to use them
4. TYPEWRITING—A beginner's course: drills, rhythmic exercises, touch system.
S. MOTOR MECHAN4CS—Fundamental studies of the internal combustion engine,
ignition, transmission, differential, brakes. Maintenance and minor repairs.
6. PUBLIC SPEAKING—Conduct of meetings. duties of chairman and officers, Par-
liamentary procedure, practice in speaking.

7. OIL PA I NT I NG—An elementary course.
8. HOME NURSING AND FIRST AID—Care of sick, use of antiseptics and bandages.
9. BASIC ENGLISH AND CITIZENSHIP—For New Canadians
FEES -48.00 per person, payable on the opening night of the course, at which time
everyone vill assemble in the Auditorium to meat class instructors.
NOTE: Registration must be made on a registration form. The courses given will
depend upon the number who register. In case of over -registration in any
course, applications will be accepted in order of registration. So, fill out this

mittee. :Arrangements were
made to hold a •horneihake sale
in the lower lodge hall on Sat-
urday, Oct. 2,6th at 3 p.m. Com-
mittees were appointed to -assist
the 1.0.0.18'. Lodge at their Hal-
lowe'en party, Oct. 311, and the
dance on Nov. 1st in 'the Town
hall. All 'members were asked
to donate candy for the Hallo-
we'en party. Following the re-
gular meeting the 'members en-
joyed a social hour when pro-
gressive euehre was played, Mrs.
Inez McEwen won the high
'prize and Mrs. Eva •Carlisle won
the consolation prize. This en-
joyable social was arranged by
the N. G. Mrs. Wm. Caldwell.
New School Opened
The opening of the new 3120,-
000 Mensal .1Public :School was
attended by students, parents
and interested citizens.. Gust
speaker was Mr. G. L. Duffin,
superintendent of elementary
education, Department of Edu-
cation, and the 'chairman for
the program was Howard !Scene.
The six -room - school of
block construction was built by
contractors Frank Van Bussel
and Sons in Lucan. Architects
were Blackwell and Hagerty of
London. IThe :one -storey school
also includes, besides the class-
rooms, a teaoher's room, a prin-
cipal's office and a nurse's
room.i

The death occurred on Satur-
day in St. Joseph's. Hospital,
London, of !Richard Henry Peck,
Hayfield, aged 77. He is surviv-
ed by his wife, the former Mary
Dalrymple; by two daughters,
Miss Grace Peck -and .Mrs. D. G.
(Audrey) Varty, both of Lon-
don; two[brothers, Wesley and
Arthur, Hayfield; three 'sisters,

Mrs. Marshall [Stewart at the
O. A, Whitney Funeral, Home,
'Seaforth, with Rev. D, Glenn
Campbell officiating. Burial was
in Maitlandbank Cemetery. The
pallbearers were: William Hop-
per, Jack Davidson, Jos. ,Grum-
mett, Jos. Hugill, ;William Mc-
Dougall and Roy Lawson.
