On Thursday the school took
on a weird look as the grade.9
girls appeared, hair done up in
rags, skirts on backwards and
men's shirts and ties completing
their outfit. There was much
stumbling as they tried walking
up the stairs on one high heel
and one low heel, but wait until
we see what came next. The

The fun continued Thursday
night when the grade miners
were asked to roll chalk across
the floor with their noses, duck
for apples blindfolded and shake
hands with the president. After
this the .were allowed to i
nturn
to normal
and the rest of the
evening was spent in dancing to
music provided by our new re-
cord player.
We are busy getting our
teams practised up forfield
day. The girls are divided into
two teams each of volley ball
and bslskeliball and we are get-
ting to be real professionals, eh

The monthly meeting of the
'WIMIS and 'W.A. of Duff's Unit-
ed .Church was held in the
schoolroom of the church Thurs-
day afternoon. Mrs. David Wat-
son presided for the W.M.S.
meeting and opened with pray-
er. The scripture lesson was
read ;by Mrs. James McDonald,
from (Philippians 1: 1-8. Hymn
383 "0 Master let me walk with
!Thee" was followed with -com-
ments on the scripture by the

and roll call was given by Mrs.
IRobt. (McMichael. Two invita-
tions were accepted._ one to
Duff's ,Chureh, MelKillOp, ,Sept.
2,6,. and to Winthrop on..Oct. 16.

ings. The sectional meeting will
be held at Winthrop on (Oct, 9,

day at Alana College gave short.

The topic on "Japan" was taken
by Mrs. R. Achilles and Mrs, F.
Walters. The meeting closed
with 'hymn 376 "Blest be the
tie that Binds".
Mrs. Ken McDonald presided
for the W. A. meeting. A motto
was used to open the meeting
followed with the secretary's re-
port by Mrs. Ronald Bennett.
One thankyou card was read,
also a letter regarding "Save
The Children Fund" which ask-
ed for new or good used cloth-
ing. It was decided that this
clothing be collected before next
meeting with Mrs. Wm. Bennett
and Mrs. A. McDonald in
charge. (The treasurer's report
was given by Mrs. A. Coutts. It
was decided to have a fowl sup-
per, the date to be Wed. Oct.
23. Program committee for sup-
per, Mrs. Wesley IHackwell,
Mrs. Jack IBryans and Mrs. Har-
vey Brown. Mrs. G. 'MeGavin
thanked the ladies who helped
clean the church after redecor-
ating. Sample boxes of Cluist-
mac cards were shown and some
ordered. The meeting closed
with the aMiapah 'Benediction.
Social Evening
IA get-together of the congre-
gation of Duff's 'United Church
was held on Friday evening tak-
ing the form of a pie social. The
Rev. W. M. 'Thomas acted as
chairman for the following pro-

Town, Glenna Houston and Car-
