The Quarterly Offieial Board
of the United 'Church met in
Goshen Church on Thursday
last, excellent reports were gi-
ven by the treasurers, W.u1., and
WMS, Sunday School, YPU and
other departments of the church
which showed that the two
churches enjoyed a very sues
cessful year under to pastorate
of Rev. T. J. Pitt.
With our group schedule
drawing to a close you will see
that the last 'three teams are
staging quite a race for the last
two playoff spots. With only 3
more .games for our team we
still have not first position se-
cure as we have played 2 more
games than Sarnia and with
Sarnia gaining a win from' Owen
'Sound our 'position is less 'se-
cure as they still have 10 points
to go and we have six. With
one mote win for us the best
Sarnia could do would be tie us
if they win all 'their •games.
Our chief worry now of
course is finances and we are
hoping for a good turn out to
our booster party on Thursday
night.
The minor teams are staging
a minor hockey night Feb. '7th
when all minor teams will play
against all star Stratford teams.
Funds from this night will go to
help pay expenses of minor ho-
ckey in Seaforth.
Jack McIlwain night, Feb. 5,
now looks like a huge success
and we are sure everyone will
want to be on hand. •Kitchener
will be our opposition and you
are assured a good game with a
presentation taking place .be
tween second and'"'third periods.
}Since so many cannot he eon-
taeted personally for donations
to this fund we have decided to
pass a blanket along the boards
before the start of the second
period so all fans may have an
opportunity to contribute.

CROP REPORT
'Mild weather and heavy rains
on Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 21.
and .22 cleared away a great
deal of the snow. }Over 80 Beef
Producers from the 'County
toured beef cattle feeding estab-
lishments in Middlesex, Kent
and Elgin Counties on Thurs-
day, Jan.' 24 on their annual
bus tour.
Farm 'Account Book distribu-
tion has been greater than ever
before, which indicates that
farmers are becoming more and
more cost-conscious.
The poor quality cereal grain
harvested in 1956 is indicated
by the increased numbers of in-
quiries received to date by farm-
ers concerned about 'their 1957
spring seed requirements.
