ter's Lutheran Church from the•
funeral of John MoNaughton,
which was held in Seaforth last
Tuesday. Mr. ‘McNaughton ghton
is
the father of Harold MdNaugh-
ton of this congregation, hus-
band of the former Norma
Ahrens.

few days with her parents, Mr.

and they all spent Christmas

'Members of the Lu t h e r
League held a Christmas social
on Thursday evening in the
church basement with young
people of Grace Lutheran
Church of Mitchell, and First
Lutheran Church, Logan, as
guests. Progressive !Crokinole
was played. Christmas Carols
were sung and lunch served.
Luther Leaguers went Carol
singing to shutins throughout
the congregation on Sunday af-
ternoon and distributed a plant
to each one.
The annual :Sunday School
Christmas program was held in
the church on Christmas eve.
Two beautiful decorated trees
and white mums adorned the
chancel and altar. The program
was divided into bwo parts: Miss
Joanne Rock was the narrator
for the Primary classes in reci-
tation and song, and then the
Intermediates presented a pag-
eant. Christmas :Carols were
sung and the ohoir assisted in
the program. Members of the
Brodhagen ,Band played :Christ-
nias Carols from the Bell tower
of the Church prior to and after
the service,

tended to enjoy a fine concert,
C'hristmas tree, lunch, dancing
and Santa, Claus. IMrs, James
Axtmann is the teacher and
much credit is due the manner
in which the children conducted
themselves, during the program.
Mr, Ken Beatles was the chair-
man and presided over a pro-
gram of duets, chorus, panto-
mimes and dialogues. :Mrs. Wm.
King, music supervisor, was
the accompanist. The draw was
made for an electric clock and
lamp and 'these were won by
James Axtmann and Robert
Betties. The draw was made by
Brenda Pryce and Larry Horne.
Mr. David Holden sang "The
Gentle Carpenter". . Following
the program Santa Claus arrived
and distributed gifts to all . the
children. Lunch was served;
Mr. John R. Leeming and
Mr. and Mrs. John. 'Grimoldby
and Mr. McKone supplied music
for dancing.

attended the funeral of the late
George (Coleman, father of Mrs.
Elgin :McKinley of Goshen
Line who passed away on Fri-
day at the home of his son, Mr.
Anson Coleman of Hillsgreen,
Mr. 'Coleman was widely known
as a cattle drover in these parts.
The sympathy of the community
goes out to the McKinley family
in this district from their many
friends.

were in Toronto recently at-
tending a United Farmers' Co-
operative meeting.
S. Z. No. 9 Hay and Stanley
held their Christmas concert on
Tuesday evening, Dec. 18th.
Mrs. Robert :Graham assisted at
the piano for the singing. Mrs.
Clair Deichert, the teacher,
trained the children in her us-
ual able manner which was a
good concert, about 40 pupils
took part. Santa Claus arrived
and distributed gifts to the chil-
dren.

A meeting of the electors of the Town-
ship of Tuekersmith will be held in the
Town Hall, Seaforth, on Wednesday,
Jan. 0, 1857, for the purpose of nomin-
ating candidates for the offices of
Councillors for 1067 (two to be elected).

Christmas concert in the school
room on the evening of Thurs-
day, Dec. 20th with Mrs. Allan

The school was prettily decorat-
ed in all the Christmas colors
and scenes, and a well trimmed
