Hold Euchre and Dance
In Ald of Red Cross—
A very enjoyable time was spent
in the town hall on Friday evening
when the Chamber of Commerce
sponsored a euchre 5101 dance in aid
of the red cross. The ladies' prizes
far euc'hr'e were wolf, first. MTs. J.
Elgie, Kipper; second, Mrs. R. J.
Moore. Henson, consolation, Miss
Jean Poster, Hensall. The gentlemen's
prizes were won by, first. Mr. Oliver
RontclifY , Henson, second, Mr. Ted
Taylor, Kippers, consolation, Mr. Art
.Jackson, Seaforth. A number of prizes
including hams and fowl, were given
sway to lucky numbers during the
evening.

The W.M.S. of Carmel Church 'net
in the schoolroom of the church on
Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Colin
Hudson presiding, and opened by
singing "Joy to the World The Lord
Is Come," followed by prayer by lobs.

Chapter 12. was read by Mrs. McCully
after which the minutes were read

was received hymn "Holy Night.
Peaceful Night," was sung. Mrs. J.

sola. Mrs. W. A. blacLaren was then

and Airs. \Vm. Davidson. Airs. Mac-

made a very fitting reply. The vari-
ous reports of the year were then

Following the election of officers ref-
erence was made to the loss which
had been suffered by the removal of
Mrs. W. A. Young to Fergus. Airs. R.
Simpson was the guest speaker and
gave a most interesting address
"'reac'hing Kindergarten in the Ital-
ian Mission in Toronto." The meeting
closed 11y singing a hymn. after
which Mrs. Logan led in prayer and
the benediction was pronounced.
Mrs. Marjorie Sparks left on Mon-
day for London and Detroit where
she will spend the winter months
with relatives,

spending several weeks on a motor
trip through the Southern States, has
returned home..

Mission Band Present Pantomime
The mission band of the United
Chtu'ch pIreseented a pantomime e11 -
titled "Why the Chines Rang," in the
Sunday School on Saturday last under
the leadership of Miss Kay Drysdale.
Rev. R. A, Brook acted as chairman
over the following program, 5. recita-
tion by Ross Jinks was the opening
number followed by a piano duet by
Betty and Billy Mickle, Following the
first act of the pantomime Marjorie
Cud)nore gave a recitation, and after
the second act Jean Armstrong sang
a solo, and Donald Hedcien gave a
recitation Atthe conclusion of the
3 -act pantomime Marjorie Cudmor°
sang a solo. Rev. R, A. Brook then
gave an interesting Christmas story
and Santa Claus arrived and distrib-
uted the gifts and candy.
