Mr. Win. L. Maclaren, who under-
went an operation recently in Scott
Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, was re-
moved to St. Joseph's Hospital, Lon-
don, where he underwent a very
critical operation on Friday. Mr.
MacLaren centuries very weak at
elate of writing but his many friends
tope for a speedy recovery.

Miss Isabel Robinson who has been
engaged at the Fresh Air Camp at
Bronte for the past 3 months, has re-
turned to her home.
Rev. J. J. Durant of Forest, a form-
er pastor of Varna charge, took the
services last Sunday and his many
friends were pleased to hear him
again. Next Sunday Rev. J. W. Pen-
rose of Exeter will have charge of
the service on Varna pastoral charge.

Miss Mary Brall has left for her
home in Detroit after spending her
vacation with ber friends in this
vicinity.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Eckert and
their two sons Vincent and James
motored to Timmins to visit their
two sons Stepiten and Peter and their
families, who left here years ago and
have made good in their undertaking.

silver," and spend a pleasant evening
together, Mr. William Leiper Jr. read
the address and Mr. Gordon McGre-
gor presented the gift.

A miscellaneous shower was held
on Monday night of this week at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Tay-
lor, in honor of Miss Myrtle Taylor,
whose marriage to Mr. Franklin
Younge will take place the first week
in September. The address was read
by Miss Verna MacLean and the pre-
sentations were wade and the verses
read by Miss Ruby Dalrymple. A
mock -wedding consisting of Mrs.
Glenn MacLean, as the minister, Mrs.
Milton Lavery as groom, Mrs. Dick
Taylor Jr, as bride, and Mrs. Percy
Harris as the bride's father, all of
these being derides, caused much
laughter. After the presentations were
made Myrtle made a very fitting re-
ply. A contest directed by Miss Mar-
garet Glenn was held, after which a
very delightful lunch was served.

Rev. Mr. Durant of Forest deliver-
ed a welcome address at the Blake
Church service on Sunday last A
quartette was sung, "Sweeter as the
Years Go By," Rev. Mr. Penrose of
Exeter will conduct the service on
the coming Sunday.
Several have been at St. Joseph
during the week end to await the find-
ing of the lost Babe Siebert, who was
drowned on Friday afternoon. A
former Zurich boy, he was a hockey
star in professional teams. The great-
est sympathy is felt for the bereaved
ones.
