'Mr. Alvin Bell, who attends West
ern university in London spent the
week end with his parents, Mr. and
M'rs. Win. G. Bell.
Miss Martha Hunter, who ,under-
went an operation in !Victoria Hospi-
tal, London, recently, is recovering
and her many friends hope to see her
able -to return home again soon.
Mr, and 'Mrs. Verne •Hedden have
moved into the -dwelling east of the
highway recently vacated by Mr. and
Mrs. Arthur Prior. The house has
'been wired with hydro, the. work :be-
ing done by Mr. 'Jahn Passmore and
sons,
Rev. R. A. Brook conducted the
service in the United Church an Sun-
day morning which was largely at-
tended. The choir sang a beautiful
anthem, "Soldiers of the Cross." The
evening service was withdrawn on
account ai the Presbyterian anniver-
sary. Anniversary services will be
held in the ,United Church on Sunday,
June 1111th when Rev. Duncan Mac -
'ravish, of Calvary Church, 'Landon,
will 'be the special speaker. Rev. Mac-
Tavish was a former pastor of James
St. Church, !Exeter.
The anniversary services in Carmel
Presbyterian Church were held on
Sunday, when 'Rev, Dr, James Mac-
Kay of New St. !James Church, Lon-
don, delivered very inspiring sermons.
At the evening service Rev. R. A.
Brook was present and read the scrip-
ture and Rev. D. C, Hill of Exeter
led in prayer.
Miss 'Elizabeth Slavin is visiting
in London at the home of her cousins,

day after a very pleasant honeymoon

Alexander Smith, 79, ..tanley Town-
ship, who passed away Saturday night
at his home as the result of a stroke.
Miss Irene Douglas is supplying at
the high school this week in the ab-
sence of Mr. R. J. Moore, who is in
London narking papers.
Hensel] juveniles defeated Exeter
110-6 in a game of baseball played on
the Hensall diamond on Tuesday ev-
ening at 6 p.tn. Carrey Joynt played
an excellent game of ball and is a sure
striker, Hensall promises to have a
real juvenile team in the future when
the boys get a little more practise.
