The regular meeting of the village
council was held on Monday, May

The annual meeting of the Hensel]
Senior Institute will be held at the
home of Mrs. G. M. Case on Wednes-
day everting, May Pith at '8 p.m. The
roll call will be answered 'by the pay-
ment of fees. This will be a social
meeting, featuring Professor Quiz
and all members are asked to be pre-
sent. Visitors are welcome,
Miss Margaret Hobkirk of Detroit
spent a few days here last week visit-
ing relatives and friends.
Mr. John Swan of London visited
over the week end with his father,
Mr. Alex Swan.
Mr, Harold Bonthron ie'ft on Sun-
day for Toronto where he will attend
the embalming school for several
weeks,
Mrs. Brazier, Miss Dorothy and
Mr. jack Brazier and friend of Lon-
don visited on Saturday at the home
of Dr. and Mrs, D. G. Steer.
Mrs. t•Vm. Dabus spent the week
end visiting with relatives in London.
Rev. Andrew Boa of Norwich vis-
ited last week with his sister, Mrs.
Geo, Sntale and brother Mr. Wm.
Boa.
Rev. Wright of Brucefield conduct-
ed the services in the United Church
on Sunday and the choir sang two
beautiful anthems, "Beneath the
Cross of Jesus," and "I Lay My Sins
on Jesus. A sacrament of Baptism
will be held next Sunday, Mother's
day. at the morning service,
Miss Kilpatrick, assistant teacher
of the Continuation School, who has
beep confined to her room with scar-
let fever, is improving and was able
to go to the home of her parents in
Strathroy on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Phaff and dau-
ghter Shela and Mrs. Brandy of Del-
hi visited on Sunday at the 'home of
the •former's mother, Mrs. Wm.
Phaff.
W. M. S. Meeting—
The W. M. S. of the United
Church held their regular 'mont'hly
meeting on Thursday afternoon in
the church with Mrs. Chas. McDsnell
presiding in the absence of the presi-
dent Mrs. W. B. ,Cross. After the op-
ening hymn was sung, Mrs, Laramie
led in prayer, and the scripture was
read by Mrs. Albert Spencer. The
minutes of the previous meeting were
read and adopted and the roll called.
The business was discussed and the
birthday party will 'be on May 119th.
The speaker will be Mrs. Craw of
McKil•lo:p. Miss Irene Douglas played
a beautiful piano instrumental after
which the offering was received Miss
Margaret Hobkirk gave the topic
from the study book, which was very
interesting. The meeting closed with
a 'hymn and the 'benediction.
Mrs. Everett Fletcher. who has
been visiting with her son -iii -law and
slaughter, Mr. and 'Mrs. Ed Fink, re-
turned tp her home in Moorefield 'on
Sunday.
Rey. W. A, 'Young •c•nndiucted both
services in Carmel Presbyterian
Church on Sunday and the choir
sang two fine anthems, "Give Ile
Peace 0 Lord, soloist Mrs. Young
and 'Hymn of Peace," soloist Miss
Enid Parkins. A sacrament of Bapt-
ism will he held on Sunday,. Mother's
Day, at the morning service.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry McMillan vis-
ited with friends in Hanover and
Durham on Sunday.
Rev. W. A. Young was in Clinton
on Tuesday attending Presbytery
meeting.

the Young People's (Union was held
in the [United Church on Monday
evening with ,Miss Gladys Passmore
presiding, The opening hymn "All
For `Jesus," was followed by a prayer
by Miss Ruth Brook, The scripture
was read by Miss Jame Saundercock.
The roll was called and the minutes
of the previous meeting read and ad=
opted. Mr. Kenneth Hicks presided
over the business, and the hymn "He
Leadeth Me," was sung. Mr. Carrey
Jioynt gave a vd'ry interesting reading,
and Mr. W. B. Cross sang a delight-
ful solo, "AI), Jesus I' Love Thee."
After a 'B'ible ,contest the .meeting
closed with the Mizpah benediction.
Mr. and MI's. Ed Finck and son
Billy visited on Sunday with the 'for-
aner's parents, Mr. and Mrs. .Henry
Fink in Hanover.
Pool Room to be Opened Here—
Mr. E. Doerr and Mr. E. Jonas of
Blyth are opening a pool room in the
vacant store beside the Bank of Mon-
treal. Mr. and Mrs. Doerr and fam-
ily have moved into the apartment
of Mr. T. C. IJoynt. They were former
residents of Hensall, having lived here
a few years ago in 'Mrs. Agnes Mac
Donald's house. Mr. F. W. Gladman,
'barrister and solicitor, who hasl had
his office in the rear of this store, has
moved to the rear. of Mr. W. 0.
Goodwin's store, where.. he will be in
his office every Friday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Grant of Lans-
ing, Mich., visited over the week' end
with the former's parents, Mr, and

agent who has been •conrined to his

Mission Circle—
The Mission Circle of the United
Church held their regular meeting.
at the home of Miss Irene Douglas
on Friday evening with a very good
attendance. Refreshments were serv-
ed and Miss Goldie .Cross presided
over the meeting. The scripture was
read 'by Miss Mary Goodwin and
Miss Norma Cook led in prayer. A
missionary story was read by Miss
Gladys Passmore, which was very int-
eresting hiss Irene Douglas gave
the topic on "Mission Work in South-
ern Satkatchewan,"
Mr. Geo. Swale, who has been em-
ployed as teamster at Mr, Thomas
Welsh's sawmill for the past number
of years, has given up employment
with Mr. Welsh in order :that he may
take charge of the .apiary of the late
Mr. Paul .Boa, Mr. Welsh presented
Mr. Smale with 'a handsome chair in
appreciation of his faithful services
during the years he was employed
with him,
Quite a number of .pupils from
Hensall school and the surrounding
schools 'attended the annual musical
festival held in James street church,
Exeter, on Friday and Saturday.
