HENSALL
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Taman of Blen-
heim spent the week end at the home
of the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Chas. McDonell.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Simpson of De-
troit visited over the week end with
the former's mother, Mrs. Lou Simp-
son and grandmother, Mrs, Robert
Monthron,
Miss Helen Glenn, an employee at
the London Life in London, spent the
week end with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. George Glenn,
Mr, Claude Blowes, Principal of
the Public school, has been confined
to his home with a severe cold. His
duties at the school are being looked
after (by Miss A. E. Consitt.
Miss Margaret Slavin is visiting
for a few days with Mr, and Mrs.
John Glenn.
The services in Carmel Presbyter-
ian Ohurch were largely, attended
and the pastor Rev, W. A. Young
preached inspiring sermons at both
services. The choir sang an anthem,
"Hark Hark My Soul," and a very
beautiful duet ',The Christ of the
Cross" was sung by Miss Irene Hog -
garth and Mrs. W. A. MacLaren.
Mrs. W. A. Young very ably presid-
ed at the organ in the absence of the
or,ganist Mrs. !John Murdoch.
Rev. R. A. Brook conducted both
services in the United Church and
delivered excellent sermons to large
congregations. The choir sang an an-
them "God So Loved the World" and
a duet "Sou of My Soul" was beau-
tifully sung by Misses Ruth Brook
and Bella Smale, Miss Greta Larnmie
very, ably presided at the organ.
The services in St. Paul's Anglican
Church were in charge of Rev. M. A.
Hunt, and the choir rendered excel-
lent music.
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Filshic and
family moved to Toronto on Tuesday
where they will make their home.
Their sons Alex and Tan are attend'-
ing university there. Mr. and Mrs.
Filshie have been residents of the
town for the vast several years, hav-
ing moved here when Mrs. Filshie ac-
cepted the position of prin.cipal of the
Continuation school.
Mr. Wm. Slavin of Tuckersmith
spent .the week end visiting his sister
Miss Lizzie Slavin.
Quite a nuniber of residents have
been confined to their homes suffer-
ing from severe colds an.dr sore
throats.
Mr. .ancl Mrs. Edgar Butt of Kip -
pen visited on Sunday with the for-
mer's aunt, 'Mrs. John Murdoch,
Hardware Store Robbed -
During the early hours of Monday
morning the large hardware store of
Messrs. Bonthron l& Drysdale was
broken into through a window at the
back of the store. The robbers made
away with about l$300 worth of mer-
chandise consisting of silverware,
shells, jack-knives, .flashlight batteres,
electric appliances, paint, etc. At date
of writing the whereabouts of the
thieve,' had not (been traced.
The many friends of Mrs. E. L.
Mickle, Billy and Betty, are .pleased
to see them out again after their re-
cent illness.
Mrs, D. Chellew and son Robert of
Los Angeles, California, who have
been visiting with the former's par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Cook, since
September, left Thursday for their
home.
The regular monthly meeting of the
teachers and officers of Carmel Pres-
byterian Sabbath School was held at
the home of the Superintendent, Mr.
Peter Moir, on Sunday evening,
Mr. and Mrs. C. Cook spent the
week end in Toronto visiting their
son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Cook.
The regular meeting of the W.M.S.
of Carmel Presbyterian Chtirdh will
be held in the Church on Thursday
at
Mr. Mervyn Brown, who has been
spending the past week in Toronto,
returned .home on Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ford Sparks of Lon-
don visited on Tuesday with the for-
mer's mother, Mrs. M. Sparks.
Mr. Frank Bean of the London
Road was seized with a weak spell
while in town last week but is some-
what improved at date of writing.
)Mrs. Geo. Brown, who has been vi-
siting for the past wtek with her dam-
ghter, Mrs. 7. Wilson in Stratford, re-
turned home on Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs, John Corbett visited
with relatives in London over the
week end.
