Sugar Beet Yield Good
Although the acreage of this crop
amounted to only 28,200 .acres this
year, as compared with 310,300 acres
in 19317, estimated production is plac-
ed at 293,300 tots as against 240,4100
tons in 191317. Owing to favorable•wea-
ther conditions the yield per acre will
be slightly more than 10 tons where-
as a year ago the yield was 7,94 tons
per acre. Sugar content will average
over 115 per cent.

INSTITUTE EUCHRE
A very successful euchre was held
in Cardno's hall on Friday evening
by the Seaforth Jr. Institute, when 76
tables were in play. Lunch was serv-
ed at the close. Mrs, A. Lil'lico held
the lucky fioket for the 'bedspread
and bedroom furnishings. Prize win-
ners were, ladiei, first, Mrs. Robert
Strong, lone hands, Miss Beth Shan-
non; men's, first, Mr.'jolt Modeland,
lone hands; Mr. Percy Little.
HARLOCK
Burns' Church anniversary services
which were ,held on 'Oct. t•6th were a
success in every way. Rey.•Nir. Abrey
of Stratford, a former pastor, had
,charge of . both services and the
church was well filled at 'both ser-
vices. Mrs. l(Rev.) Menzies assisted
the ,choir. We wish to thank all who
came, also those helping to snake the
anniversary, a success.
Rev. Mr. Abery spent the week end
.of the anniversary at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Leo Watt, also visiting some
of the friends.
Mrs. Simon McVittie is not at pre-
sent enjoying very good 'health but is
a little improved. We hope she will
soon be strong again.
Mr. Watson Reid has been in the
Palmerston hospital for the Past two
weeks, having got his leg badly cut
when returning from the plowing
match at Barrie. He expects he may
get' home the latter part of this week.
Messrs. David and Leslie Reid .vis-
ited Watson in Palmerston on Sun-
day.
Miss Wilma Shepherd visited her
cousin, Miss Lois ,Farquhar, near
Clinton last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Kelland MeVittie at-
tended the party on Friday evening of
fast week in Constance hall in honor
of the latter's niece, formerly tltiss
Agnes Dodds of McKiiiop.
Mrs. A. W, Beacons and Miss Ed-
ythe spent Saturday in Wingham, the
former visiting friends, the latter at-
tending a lecture of which site is tak-
ing a series in connection with school
work.
Mr. and Mrs. Orville Rapson and
daughters visited on Sunday at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Rapson.
Mrs. A. 'W. Beacom also visited in
the afternoon.,
The Misses Hazel, Leona and Lois
Rapson spent part of Sunday after-
noon at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Lorne Roe.
Mr. Eddy Bell and Mr. and Mrs.
Ab V•odden of near 'Londesboro, who
were on a trip to Calgary and other
poittts in the West returned home on
Tuesday of last week. Miss Isabella
Ferris of Provost, accompanied therm
home. Mr. Reece Ferris, who went
with them, stayed for a longer visit.

Mr. and Mrs. C'Ituter spent the
week end with friends in London.
Mrs. Fred Austin and little son Ro-
land spent a night with Mrs. A, .Aus-
tin last week. They were in company
with Mrs. hired Austin's sister, 'hus-
band and son.
Mrs. A. Austitt had a visit from her
'brother, Mr. John Seeley of Loudon
on Sunday. He was accompanied by
his daughter, Mrs. Warner and hus-
band and Mr. and Mrs. Webb, all of
London.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Seeley, son aitd
wife of Clinton, also called on Mrs.
Austin Sunday.
Mr. Geo. Beatty, .Sr., in company
with Mrs. M. G. Beatty and Miss'
Edyth Mossop motored to Listowel

Mrs! Dave Armstrong is returning
home in about two weeks to Pilo,
Mound, Man., after spending a mottt'lt
in this vicinity and attending the -fun-
eral, of ter sister,' Mrs. Ro'bt. Arm-
strong, in Clinton. She will be accom-
panied by her niece, Mrs. Webster
Turner, who will spend the winter
there with her aunt and two sisters.

the week for Bad Axe, Mic'h, to
spend the winter with aier daughter.
