BAYFIELD
Mrs, Janet Delgaty-
-It -is our sad- duty this weela to
chronicle the death of the late .Mrs,
Janet Delgaty, formerly of the Bron-
son Line, Stanley, and dater of Bay-
field. She was the 'widow of the late
Robert Delgaty who predeceased her
six years ago. Mrs. Delgaty was born
in Duns, Berwickshire, Scotland, in
the year 1861, 'being one of a family
of twelve, five 'boys and seven girls,
Her father -was the late William Del-
gaty and her ntother Alice •Christison;
all of Scotland. In the year ,118133 Mrs,
Delgaty with her sister Margaret set
out on the then rather adventurous
journey to -Canada to visit their 'uncle,
the late Robert Delgaty Sr, and his
family, residing, then on the old
homestead on the Bronson Line
This great adventure of the two girls
proved to he more than a mere visit
to Janet, dor in the month of S'eptem-
ber of that year she was united in
marriage to Robert, second son of
Robert Delgaty Sr. To this ,union
was born Isabelle, now Mrs. Thomas
Westlake, with whom she resided
during the last five years, during
which time she was an invalid suffer-
ing from -the effects of a stroke •suff-
ered five years ago. About three
weeks ago she had another stroke
which resulted in her .death, Mrs.
Delgaty was a -woman of sterling
character, possessed of true Scotch
hospitality and above all with a. child-
like faith in her Saviour. She was a
member of .Knox Presbyterian
Church, Bayfield, and her pastor, the
Rev, G. 'Ped -die, conducted the fiuneral
service, speaking -from the text,
"There remaineth therefore a rest for
the people of God." Besides her
daughter and her husiband and two
grandchildren Keith anti Gordon
Westlake, there are six elf her 'broth-
ers and sisters that remain to mourn
her loss. Two of these are in this
country, Tom of the West, and James
of Toronto, who was present at the
funeral. Our special sympathy goes
out to her daughter who has given
her every possible care during tate
long years of invalidism. The pall-
bearere were Messrs. Wm. Tough
(Clinton), Jack Stanbury'(St. Cathar-
ines), Sam Rohrer, Clifford Talbot,
Joe Richardson, and Archie .Arnt-
strong. Interment was made in Bay-
field cemetery. The sympathy of the
community was expressed in the
large attendance of friends, relative.
and neighbors 'at the funeral service
held et the hone of her son-in-law,
Mr, Thomas Westlake. •Flonat trib-
