turned home 'after a very pleasant
visit ,with 'Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Dodds of Oak Park, and' other
friends. Mrs, D'odds motored beck
with them to see her father Me. Wil-
liam Bromley of Londeshoro, .who is
Mrs Smith, Mrs. !McDonald and
Mrs. :McDonald's mother motored
with them as ear as (Oak 'Park, and
left there by train for California to
visit relatives and friends, and will
return home by train the latter part

The W.M.S. of Northside (United
Chundh held their June meeting on
'lamest:lay afternoon in the Sunday
school room. The hymn, "Onward
Christian Soldiers,"' was sung, and
Che president, Mrs. •Laing, led in
prayer. The minutes of laete meeting
were read and adopted, as •was also
the treasrareies report. The Christian
Stewardship secretary gave a goad es -
reeding and the Watch Tower secre-
taey read a piece entitled "Chinese
Cheistians Show Splendid Spirit." 'Phe
Supply secretary .neported two 'bales
ready to send away. The roll call was
'then taken and forty menebers res-
ponded. 'Mrs. MdDermid's kind invit-
ation 'to 'hold the next social meeting
at her home was aocepted and ar-
rangements were made to hold the

Mrs. McIntosh as Captain of Circle
6 then took .charge of the devotionaJ1
period, The theme WaS "Teneperance."
Mrs, Simpson and Miss Rabb took
the Bible readings and Mrs. Thomp-
son 'led in prayer. Mrs. Keine gave a
reading with 'some good points on
Temperance. Hymn 146 Was sung,
then the .following ladies took pert in
a temperance dialogue: Mrs, Storey,
Mrs. McDerinid, Mrs. McIntosh and
Mrs. Ardhibald. The liymn, "Rescue
the Perishing" was sung and Miss
Lawrence led in prayer. The 'offering
was received and the meeting closed

The United Farm Women held a
joint meeting with "The Lake Huron
'Club", ;Grand Bend, on Tuesday,
June 71t,h, at .the home of Mr. and Mrs,
Lloyd Taylor, The Brucefield women
had change of the programme. Mrs.
Alex Weight occupied the chair. 'after
singing Old Bla.ck Joe ell 'repeated
the prayer. Members of both ,clubs
answered the roll call with 'dinners
that will well," or "a favorite recipe"
After the business Mrs. D.eejardine

Lake Huron Club welcomed' the
Betteefield women. Mrs. Haugh re-

the two secretaries, a discussion fol-
lowed on co-operative marketing. We
were then efavored with two violin
solos by Miss Eva Steakhouse which
all enjoyed. The topic "I love 'husb-
ands who—and I lave wives who—"
was very well given by Mrs. Win,
Douglas 'and Mrs. John Snider. All
appreciated the two voc'al solos given
by Mrs. !John Cairns; also the two
readings, "Aunt Dinah's Matrimony,"
and The Bachelor's Sale" given 'by
Miss Eva Stackhouse, The june ques-
tions were taken by Mrs. Buchanan,
Mrs. Nesbitt and Mrs. Stackhouse, A
vote of thanks Was tendered to the
Lake Huron Club for their invitation,
to Mrs. Taylor 'for her hospitality and
to Miss Stackhouse for helping with
the programme. The meeting closed
'by singing "Flew Gently Sweet Af-
ton." Members of the two clubs were
'paired for lunch which was served by
the hostess and friends. Next Spring
the Grand Bend members will visit
Cha Brucefiehl members,
The W. M. S. held their monthly
meeting 'on Wednesday, June 8th.
The 'theme for the Programme was
the' church end temperance. The
meeting opened with 'hymn 513 and
the presideat ie'ad in prayer. The min-
utes were read, the roll was answered
with a verse on "forgiveness" after
the reports and 'business were taken,
Mrs. A. McQueen mad a temperance
article 'entitled Hamilton "Hell
Nights" and Mrs. Haugh gave the
carrent event. Mrs. Stevens 'had
charge of the devotional services
when she gave scripture readings and
offered prayer. Hymn 0413 was sung
aad Mrs. Cairns toe!: the chair for the
seudy period when a temperance play-
let "Afterthoughts or Forethoughts"
wag giren by Miss Swan, 'Mrs. 'Cairns,
Miss Emmy and Ifs'S. Brock. The
closing hymn was 389. The meeting
closed with the benediction.
Mrs. James MOQueen spent a few
days with relatives and frieads in
Clinton last week.
‘Communion services were held at
the morning service last Sunday.
Next 'Sunday at the morning serv-
ice Mr. Jervis Horton who was the
representative elder to the oonference,
will ' tell of some of the things he
heard ,there.

The June ineeting.,of the Woman's
Association was 'held in the school
room of the church. Th.e firat part of
the meeting .was spent in serving. The
devotional part was taken by Mrs. A.
Scott. We 'Opened by singing (hymn
298 This was followed with ,Seripeure
Sound in St. John, .chapter 415, Mrs.
Ratteieb.u.ry :led in prayer. We then
sang hymn 141813. We .closed (She meet-
ing with -silent prayer. The ipresideat
took the chair. The ininates of .the
east meeting were 'adopted. The roll
.oall was easportded to by 316 'mem-
bers. 'Business was theri discussed and
the meeting dosed hy all repeabing
the Mizpah !benediction. Latch was
served 'by the hostess and her
assistants. •

The Ladies' Aid and W,M.S. of
Burns' Uftited 'Church held their June
meeting at the home of Mr. and Mae.
'Au.drey Knox and Ma and Mrs,
Thos. Knox' on Thursday afternoon
of last meekwith a very large attend-
ance as it would be the lest meeting
while the Rev. Me. 'Gerdiner would be
the .pastar as he has accepted the Eg-
mondville charge. The afternoon was
eery pleasantly spent in quilting one
quilt eieldh the Ladies' Aid is donat-
ing to "some hospital. The ether quilt
was being quilted for a member of
the Society. During the afternoon
Mrs. Geo. Carter read the 'following
address and IVIrs. Geo. MeNittie ami
Mrs. A. W. MdEwing .presented a
lovely folding beef table 'and. table
mi•rror to Rev. aad Mrs, Gardiner wed
Mrs. Nelson Lear presented a couple
of nice pictures to their niece, Miss
.Eleanor Hudson. The address; 'To
Rev. A. W. and. Mrs. IGardiner,—W,
your 'friends of Burns' congregabion

gret Which we have 'telt since learn-
ing .of your intended 'departure. This

has no bones beaken.

his farm; putting up a new fence and
shingling the outside of the poultry
house.
