Death of Thos. Wm. Parlmer—
The death occurred at his home
here early Monday morning of Thom-
as SVilliam {Parlance a prominent and
highly+ respected Hensall business
man. Mr. +Parlmer had been in poor
health for about two years ;bet was
,able to attend to his business until
• Saturday. Jan. i2Lend when his c..andi-
eion ,becarne serious and he rapidly
sank. He passed away on 'Monday
from s, cancer in his stomach. He was
the;only son of the late Mr. and Mrs,
Thomas Parlmer Sr. and Was born at
Crediton 65, years ago. When a young
boy the family moved to 'flensall
where Mr. 'Perluier spent his early
Eft. He learned the tailoring trade
wit,l) the late John Pope of Hensall.
Forty-one years ago he married Mis$
Hannah Bella Wilson. Mr. and Mrs.
,Parlmer'resided in North Dakota for
time, also at Clinton and Landes -
boo, but most of their married life
was. spent in Hensall. For a good
many years Mr. Parlmer conducted a
grocery business here and was very
popular with the pOblic. He later sold
out his business and travelled 'for a
Brantford biscuit and candy firm for
a couple of years. 'Coming back to
Hensall he again started in the .groc-
ery +business which he cenducted
until t.wo years ago \sewn his health
began to iail. He secured the con -
trace for earrying the mail on 'Hen-
sel! R.R. 2 a couele oi years ago. In
December in company with his :on
Earl he ,tarted a meat business here,
making a eotirtureous effeirt to teary
on in seite cf itiline health. Ile was a
Conservative in politics. and a mem-
ber ef the Hensall lenited Chnrch.
For year, he sang in the former
efethocest Chureli Choir tied was a

ing of E. Rennie, George Brown, Will
Stoneman and Thos. +Parlmer., which
look a erominent part in musical
circles of the church mid vicinity. Mr.
,Parliner was, of ly dispeetion,

from Southcott Bros, the stock, fix-
tures and good will ot the dry goods
store that Sontlicatt Bros. have emit.-
docted here for nearly' two years and
which Mr. •Geocl win managed. Air.
Goodwin is a good 'business man,
very popular, and will no doubt make
a big success of bit new store,
The .Arnold Circle of Carmel Pres-
byterian Church bele a 10 cent tea at
the home of Miss Irene Hoggarth on
Tuesday evening.. There was a spleed-
id attendance. Mrs. Young ,presided.
After the weal opening exercises and
business period Miss Beryl Pfaff gave

MT. and Mre. George Walker spent
the week end with Brussels friends.
Mr. Ed ICorbett of II -lay township is
spending it few days in town visiting
his sister, Mrs. IRoy McLaren. Mr.

foot with an axe and has been ender

The recent heavy rains and thaw
caused a lotof trouble in town on
Saturday night and Sunday. The cel-
