owing to the illness of their mother,
who was taken to the hospital ,for the
interest of her health.

John 'Marray who suffered a nervous
attack 'since th:e :death of her husband,
is alble to be around again.

Death of Mrs. Burdge—
Mrs. john Burdge passed peace-
fully away, on 'Mon -clay morning in
her 9131rd year. Her advanced years
had !been gradually ',becoming more
apparent in her health for some
time and especially during the week
before het death. Mrs . Burdge was
held in high regard and endeared her-
self to all. She had been a resident
of the vicinity of Brucefield for 55
years. In May of this year she would
have .observed her 913rd birthday. Tor-
anerly jane Ketchen she was horn in
Darlington Tp., near 'Whitby 'and af-
ter 'her marriage ceme to iZorra, (Ox-
ford county, near 11-Iicicson and fifty-
five years ago moved to Stanley Tp.,
itear Brucefield where her son now
resides. In recent years Mrs. Burdge
made her home .with her daughter,
Mrs johis Wats-on, and the past four
years with her .daughter, Mrs. Path-
eringham. Five 'daughters and one
son survive: Ves..0, :Fotheringharn
and Mrs. Thomas Chapman and Mrs.
Robert Watson, Teekersmith: Mrs,
John Watson and Mrs. W. F. Mc-
Millan, lEgmondville. and Mr. Fred
Bordge, of Stanley Tp.; also1115 grand-
children and 5 ,great -grand -children,
A son, fames, of Hamilton, died eight
years ago. Mrs. Burdge was the last
surviving member of the Ketehen
family. Mrs. Burdge ,was an Honor-
ary Member of the wm.s. of Brucb-
field Chuech and always was aetive in
the work 'of the church and commun-
ity as long as her advancing years
would permit. The funeral was held
on Wednesday afternoon at 3, o'clock
from the residence of her son4n-1a-w,
Mr. Donald IFotheringitam, Tuck-
ersinith. The services were 'conduct-
ed by her pastor, 'Rev. W. A. Brem-
ner, Brucefield, assisted by Rev.
Dr.-IKetchen of 'Hamilton, a nephew
of the deceased, Interment took place
in Beird's -Cemetery, Bruedfield. The
pallbearers were Ave grandsons, John
and: William Fotheringham, Ross
,Chapman, -James and William Burdge
and William Sinclair. !Relatives from
a distance attending the funeral vrere,

Funeral services were held in G.ode-
rich township for Mrs. john Weston,
6th concession, who died Tuesday at
the home -el her son, Alexander, in
her IZ6th year. Before her marriage
she was Miss Mary INichoison, and
was .b.orn in Tort kietroe, but lived in
Goderich Township 25 years. Her

rich Tp. for albout 25 years, Twenty
years ago she and her husbandre-

ton's death five years ago, she return-
ed to the homestead. Sueviving are
four sons, Alex at home, Clifford, Ben

The Women's (Institute held their
meeting last T,hurstlay in the Com-
munity Hall. Meeting opened by sing-
ing the 'opening -ode and the Lord'e
prayer in anis-on. Mrs. IE. Adams,
president, was, in the chair. Minutes

CONSTANCE
John Jamieson—
The passing of Mr. John Jamie-
son was a great -shook to the com-
munity. Mr. tlarnieson had ,been wish-
ing his neighbor and was returning
home with Mr, William Taylor. Mr.
Taylor deft him to go to his own
home and on looking around saw Mr.
ljam-ieson lying -on the ground. He re-
turned and went for !help .but Mr.
Jamieson ihad passed away before
they returned. He was taken to the
home of Mr. /Robert !Jamieson 'where
he had been !making his home since
1936. Mr. Jamieson was in his 56th
year and was the &on of the late Ro-
bert end 'Mrs. !Jamieson. He ,was a
veteran of the great war. He had
gone West in 1903 and took op land
itt Forestburg; .Alberta. Iui 1915 ite
:joined the lilIlat regiment :and went
overseas in ;11916 and served until the
end of the war. !He was wounded in
the head anti arms and .gassed, which
was -the caese of his ,premature death,
Many times he heard the .call of the
bugle to duty but et last the Great
Truinpeterhas called him uot to battle
but to victory. !He was a man of ster-
ling qualities, honored and respected
by all 'who' knew him and may his
great sacrifice to home ,and country
ever be cherished in .the hearts of all.
He leaves behind 'him two brothers,
William at Kitchener, and Robert of
Kellett. !Another •brother games he
loft behind in Flanders fields. "To
V you 'we throw the torch, Be yours to
f hold it high." The funeral was held
on .Sufiday the 6th, from the home
d of Mr. Robert Jamieson, service at 2
o'clock..conducted by the pastor, Rev.
Mr. iGardmer. !Interment in Burns
Cemetery. 'The pallbearers were
Messrs. Teter Dunlop, !Oliver Ander-
sen, 'Austin Dexter,. Charles Dexter,
'George !Patterson, Harvey Taylor.
