'DEPLORES INCREASE
To the Editor •Seaforth News.
The increase in radio licenses is dis-
cuse. t by many of our Citizens, It
seems too had that, our Premier, Mr.
King did not see his way clear to ran
away with the radio commission as it
is no needed .any more than a firth
wheel on a teagon, it was ,Er. Ren,
nett who started it and it helped to
defeat hint end if Premier Ring dues
not mend his ways on this issue he
will share the stupe fate, it seems it
was the cost of more heelers who get
large salaries which raised the license
from 81 to ',Tia ,and non' it is to be
$2.50. "tate service we are getting is
not as good as it was 'before the had
the romntissit it. l would like to
know how GFIRB is operating' without
getting any 'license fee. \\'e all :know
the air should not cast anything end
is not like running cars where expen-
sive roads have to be 'built anti hence
the car license. By all appearance it
will not be long 'until the will have to
pay a license for the air we breathe.
Whenever the government steps into
private 'business 'high salaried sten
will eat up all the profit and titch the
prices go up. It is the saute old start
which is in vogue today when any
line of .business gets into the hands of
a few. !Yours truly,
CION EIG+K':\'RT.
WANTS DISCU'SSI'ON
Editor The Seaforth News. The
Heron County Council in session at
!Gotlerich last week turned down a
resolution sent out by 'Perth Comity
Council a's'king,; .that the Provincial
Government contribute 517 per cent to
school education.
Many councillors objected because
they (believe the Province is taking
over too many powers of the county
councils.
Local autonomy is what the comity
councils have always strived for, and
rightly Eo.
I w'oul'd like to .see discussion of
this educational grant from another
angle, if it conies up again. The sntali
localities are not isolated asformerly
and the big centres are each year
ntalkin.g a stronger (bid for ' 'business
from the smaller places. When the
money of aur 'people is being sucked
out of the home localities, why should
not those who receive it help pay our
taxes? This might be aided t'h'rough
a 510 per ioent grant from the province
for education. Our education cost's'
now consume one,thir•d'o:f tate tax-
pay'ers' money. •
