PORTER'S HILL The Ladies' Aid of Grace church )net at their regular meeting on Thursday afternoon, when 19 were present One quilt was finished and another started during the afternoon, The president, Mrs. Reid Torrance, asked all to take their seats while the 'scripture lesson was read and the 22rd Psalm was repeated by all. Business was discussed and plans ,made for field day, Sept. and, The next meeting will be held Sept. 5th This will be Grandmother's Day. A dainty •lunch was served by the hos- tesses, Mrs. Milton Woods and ,Mrs. John Harris. On Sunday, Rev. Oliver, brother of our Moderator, had ebarge of the 'sal. - Vim Those who missed hearing him missed a treat. A letter was read from our pastor, Rev. R. X. Gale, containing greetings to his people here. At present we understand he is homeward bound. On Monday afternoon a hailstorm passed over this' . district smashing quite a few windows, cutting of flowers and shrubs, but very .little damage was done. 'Some of the hail- stones were as large as a fiftycent piece and three times as thick.
