Bond, Miss Margaret Bond and Miss Marie Forbes of Sarnia. and Miss Violet Morrison visited the latter's parents, Mr. and Mas. E. W. Morrison, the Huron Road, over the week -end. Mr. Geo. Hanley, M0.. and Mrs. Fred Hanley, Mr. Mervyn Hanley and Mrs. G. B. Hanley went to Drayton last week to attend the funeral of a cousin, Mrs, Geo. Green, who died after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Garron, who had been staying with her son in town for some time, left Saturday to meet anoth- er son in Toronto and to aceom- pany him to his home in Alberta, where she will remain for some time. Miss Lulu Rouse of Brantford, who is home on furlough from China, is the guest of her Cousin, Mrs. '(l)r.) Learn. Miss Rouse is also a cou- sin of Miss Evelyn. His Holiday is not altogether for pleasure, as he will undegro a tonsils operation the end of this week, but Duna should soon be able to throw off the effects of a little thing like that. OFFICERS MET ' Yesterday afternoon a meeting of the officers and directors of the Ag- ricultural Societies of Huron County was held here, with about seventy- five present, representing fourteen societies'. This was 'the first gathering of its kind held in the county and was cal- led together by Representative Mac- Leod, the object being to get togeth- er, discuss matters' relating to the work of the !Societies and to meet and become acquainted with Mr. 3. A. Carroll of Toronto, Director of the Agricultural and Horticultural Branch, Toronto, who gave an ad- dress. After Mr. Carroll's address, his subject being: "Agricultural So- cieties, Their Responsibilities and Problems," a half hour or so was spent in discussion, the gentlemen present showing their interest by en- gaging freely in the discussion. • The presidents and secretaries af- terwards suet with Mr. llfac'Leod to compile a list of• judges for fall fairs. Mi. Carroll, who is visiting the different counties in this way, ex- pressed himself as pleased with the warm interest taken in this work by Huron representatives. Golfers Attention The cups on display' in Mr. 3. Medd's window are donated by the. Pilot Insurance :Co. for the Golf Tournament to be held at Listowel, on Wed., June, 19. Gordon Cuninghanre, who is fond of the Groat Outdoors, as a safe and simple method of rendering wat- er you are a bit doubtful of safe for drinking: A level teaspoonful of chloride of Hine should be rubbed into a teacup- ful of water. This solution should be diluted with three cupfuls of wat- er, and a teaspoonful of thewhole quantity added to each two -gallon pailful of drinking water. This will give .4 to .5 parts of free chlorine to a million_parts of water, sufficient to destroy in tenminutes aII typhoid and eolin';bacilli' or 'other dysentery - producing organisms t in the 'water, Moreover, all traces of the chlorine will rapidly disappear.
