Miss Janet McTaggart has returned
after a visit in Toronto,
Miss Helen Manning returned Satur-
day after a lengthy holiday with
relatives in Denver, Col.
Dr. Percival Hearn returned Satur-
day, after spending the week tak-
ing a post -graduate course at St.
Michael's Hospital, Toronto.
Mr. Joe Allison and Miss Annie A111 -
son attended the funeral of their
aunt, Mrs. Bradlay of St. Thomas,
on Monday.
Mrs. Chas. Cook, Rattenbury street,
west, returned on Sunday after
spending a fortnight with her
daughter, Mrs. McConnell of Mof-
fat.
Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Shaw took in
the annual ticket -sellers' conven-
tion and trip last week, going down
to Montreal, Ottawa and up the
Saguenay,
Mrs. H. W. Gould returned Monday
after an enjoyable trip to the
Thousand Islands with a party,
having won the trip in a newspa-
per contest.
Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Cooper go to. To-
ronto this week -end to attend the
• wedding of a nephew of the form-
er, Mr. Norman Cooper, son of Col.
J. A. Cooper.
Mrs. Ogle Cooper and two daugh-
ters, Misses Frances and Norah
'Cooper, of Toronto motored up Sat-
urday to visit relatives, returning
Sunday afternoon.
The Misses Beattie spent Sunday last
at the home of their father, Mr. Jas.
Beattie, Watford, accompanied by
Mrs, Alice Ham, Toronto, and M'r.
and Miss Swan, Brucefield.
Dr. and Mrs. F. F. G. TisdaIl, who
recently returned from their hon.
eymoon trip abroad, spent the
weekend with Mrs. Tisdall's moth-
er, Mrs. M. D. McTaggart of, town.
Mrs. W. H. Cole, who has been In
London for some time, was in town
for a few days this week. Mrs.
Cole's friends are glad to see that
she is so happily recovered from a
recent illness.
Miss Isabel Biggart, who has been
convalescing at her home here af-
ter being in a motor accident in
August, returned to Toronto on
Sunday to resume her training in
the General Hospital.
Mr. Newman Paterson goes to To-
ronto this week -end to enter S.P,S,
His parents will go to the city with
him and Mr. Paterson will attend
a gathering of bank managers in
Toronto Friday evening.
Mr. and 'Mrs. George • W. Pearson
and. Misses Margaret and Virginia
of Wayne, Mich., motored over the
first of the week, for Mrs, Pearson's
mother, Mrs. Angus Coley who
has been spending a few weeks
with friends and relatives in and
around Clinton.

BAYFIELD
Orville Kalbfleisch of Mildmay,
formerly of Bayfield school staff, has
gone to Nipigon where he has a posi-
tion as teacher,
Mr. Lloyd Hodgins of Toronto Is
spending a couple of weeks in his
cottage in Bay1i ld,
Miss Eleanor Burris is visiting with
her brother, Dr. S. M. Burris,
A travelling side show visited Bay-
field on. Tuesday night and at least
caused the youngsters some excite-
ment. It consisted of two men, one
of whom was a contorionist and a
sword swallower. A performance
was held in the evening in MeKay's
garage and quite a number gathered
to see the show.
Miss J. Sterling is enlarging her
house and her once sntalI cottage is
going to be a very fine home. The
workmen are busy every day and it
will soon be completed.
Miss Mary Jean Moorhouse return-
ed to Bayfield on Saturday after vls-
iting with her friend, Miss Betty
Gairdner of London:
Mr. Harold Scotchmer left on Sun-
day to visit with friends, after which
he will return to Guelph to take up
his studies at the O.A.C.
Miss Nina Beard spent the week-
end in Arthur attending the wedding
of a girl friend,
Mrs. Moorhouse returned home on
Thursday after spending a few days
in London with Mrs. G. G. Gaidner.
Thursday was the Bayfield civic
holiday and a number of people took
advantage of it to attend the London
Fair for the day. Those who went, to
London include: Ed. Sturgeon and
family, Mr. and Mrs. Ohas. Scotch-
iner, Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Seotehiner
and family, Mr. and Mrs. Edwards
and Miss Play Edwardo-, who•were
accompanied by their guests. Mr.
and Mgrs. G. M. Fisher of Kitchener,
Mr. J. Reid, Miss Reid, Mr. and Mrs.
G W. Elliott, Mr. and Mrs, Percy
Weston, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Makins,
Mr. and MIs. Walter Westlake.
Miss Marion Davison returned
home on Sunday after spending some
time with her sister in London.
Next Wednesday and Thursday are
the days for the Bayfield Fair and
preparations are being made. In the
afternoon a good band will be in at-
tendance and foot races and a baby
show are to be added attractions. In
the evening a grand concert will be
held in the Bayfield Town Hall.
Little Bayfield is now the possessor
of two beer parlors one at Bailey's
Hotel and one at McKay's, both, of
which seem to be doing a good busi-
ness.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cook and
family and Mrs. WM. Cook, Sr., of
Newmarket called on old friends on
Sunday. Mrs. Wm. Gook and Mr.
Frank Cook were .former 'residents of
this place.
Mrr, and Mrs." Frank Riley and
daughter, Grace, and Mrs, Geo. Riley
spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. George Cook, Goderich. township,
Miss Donelda Adams left on Mon-
day to enter University at Toronto,

Mr, and Mrs. Robe. Grimoldby and
daughte,r Olive, spent Sunday at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. John Mann of
near Clinton.
We extend sympathy to Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Robinson and family of
Clinton in their recent bereavement
in the death of their son, I-Iarvey, who
was killed by accident returning from
London fair last Tuesday evening. Mr.
Robinson was formerly mail carrier
for Route 1 in the village and made
many warm friends here.
