onto over the week -end.
Miss Freda Wallis of .Guelph spent
the week -end at her home in town.
Mrs. A. M. Babb of Teeswater has
been visiting at the hone of Mrs.
J. G. Chowen.
Mrs. Chas. McKinnon of Stratford
is visiting her mother, Mrs. John
Johnston of town.
Mrs. H. B. Chant returned to St.
Catharines on Friday after an ex-
tended viit with.her daughter, Mrs.
J. A. Sutter.
Miss Gladys Addison was in Strat-
ford all last week in attendance at
the London Conference Y. P. S.
Training School.
Master Benson Sutter spent the
-week-end with his grandmother,
Mrs. Sutter of Stratford, and at-
tended the week -end meetings of
the Y. P. S. Training School.
Rev. A. A. Ilolmes of Toronto is in
town this week, being the guest of
Dr. H. and Mrs. Fowler. Mr. Hol-
mes, who is an out -of -door -.man,
while he enjoys the conveniences
of City life and especially for the
sake of Mrs. Ilolmes, always feels
somewhat cooped up in the city,
where they spend the winter
months, and likes to get back with-
in reach of the great open spaces
again. Nothing pleases him bet-
ter than shouldering a gun and
taking a hike into the woods af-
ter something which needs shoot-
ing.
Rev. C. W. DeWitt Cosens was in
Stratford last week, in attendance
at the Winter School of the Y.P.S.
of the London Conference of the
United Church of Canada. The
school closed on Sunday afternoon
and Mr. 'Cosens expected to be
home for the evening service in
Wesley -Willis church, when he
was to be assisted by a number of
the young people of the School,
but owing to the storm they were
unable to come and Mr. Cosens
had car trouble and failed to get
home. in tiine for the service him-
self.
LONDESBORO
The Aimwell Mission Circle of the
United church meet at the home of
Miss Gladys , Fairservice on Friday
evening, January 19th, with an atten-
dance of fifteen. 'Miss Beth Shob=
brook took charge of the meeting,
which was opened by singing the
hymn, "Rise Glorious Conqueror,"
followed br repeating the Lord's
Prayer in unison. The Scripture les-
son was read by Miss Nona Hesk
The hymn, "Whosoever Will" was
then sung after which Misses Mamie
Ross and Ethel Hoggart led in pray-
er and "Miss Marian Stewart played
an instrumental, Tho Study Book
was taken by Miss Gladys Fairser-
vice and 'Miss Ruth Lyon gave a
Missionary reading. The meeting
closed by singing "Praise God From
whom all Blesings Flov "

Auburn vs. Carlow, "Resolved that
farming conditions are better today
than they were 25 years ago." Ev-
eryone is welcome to attend.
Mr. Stephen Medd of Windsor
spent the week -end with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. John Medd.
Owing to the storm on Tuesday
the Auburn School was closed. The
thermometer stood at :zero most of
the day.
VARNA
The Library held a very successful
dance in the hall last week, not as
large a crowd being present as ex-
pected, but a good time enjoyed by
all.
Misses Emily and Gladys Beatty
of London spent the week -end at
their home.
The W. A. of St. John's Church
held a meeting at the home of Mrs:
Frank Weekes last Thursday, a
number of ladies being present.
Mr. Ellwood Epps is wearing a
broad smile these last few days as a
baby boy arrived at their home. Coni

been spending a few days -with her
