Miss Elva Wiltse has returned from
a visit in Detroit.
Miss Dorothy Bartliff spent last
week -end with friends in Goderich.
Mr. Adam Cantelon of Piapot, Sask.,
is visiting relatives in Clinton and
vicinity.
Mrs. J. W. Treleaven is visiting her
sister, Miss L. Gibbings of Toron-
to, this week.
The Misses Beattie of the Vogue left
Saturday morning for a holiday
visit at their home at Watford.
Mrs. Arthur Colquhoun of Staffa
spent the week -.end with her son,
Mr. Elmer Colquhoun and fancily.
Mrs, F. Fraser and son have been
visiting the lady's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. R. Walton, Mrs. Walton re-
turning with her to Windsor for a
visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jenkins of To-
ronto have been in town the past
week, owing to the illness and sub-
sequent death of the former's
mother, Mrs, W. Jenkins, who pas-
sed away on Monday morning.
Mr. I. Stirling, who has been visit-
ing his sister, Mrs. C. Jervis, Mary
street, and with other relatives in
1Goderich township for the past
several weeks, left Monday to re-
turn to his home at Consul, Sask.
Mrs. W. L. Wade and' Miss Frances
Wade of Fort Williams are visiting
Mrs. J. Tiplady and Miss Hattie
Courtice of town. They had been
in Detroit, attending the funeral
of Mrs. Wade's sister, the late Mrs.
'Canham.

Mr. Norman Bowler of Goderich
was the guest of Reg, Asquith over
the week -end.
Lantern slides on India were shown
at the Y. P. S, of Knox United church
on Tuesday evening.
A number of the Masonic breth-
ren attended lodge on Wednesday
evening at Carlow Morning Star
lodge.
Mr. Thos, Adams was very busy
last `week making a skating rink •on
the tennis grounds behind the school
in the village. There was skating
on Saturday. 1
Mr. Lloyd Dinnin, teller in the
bank hero . for the past two years
has been transferred to a branch in
Hamilton. Mr. G. Pilgrim, who
was here some years ago has taken
Mr. Dinnin's place.
Mrs. Jas. H. Johnston is visiting
her daughter in Mitchell this week.
On Wednesday last the Auburn
Unit of the New Canada Movement
met in the Forester's Hall. Mr.
J. Young of Colborne township ad-
dressed the meeting and was listen-
ed to with great interest. It was de-
cided to tut on a debate in about
three weeks with Smith's Hill. It
will be held in the Forester's Hall on
a date to be set, The subject for
debate will be: "Resolved that farm.
ing conditions are better today than
they were 25 years ago."
The County engineer, Mr. Roy
Patterson, was in the village one day
last week for the purpose of prepare
ing an estimate of the cost o£ open-
ing a street straight east from the.
