PORTER`S HILL
On Sunday a good -congregation
was. out to. church and Sunday
School Rev. R. M. Gale gave a very
nice talk on some of our old Clu'ist-
mas hynms, their author and origin.
On Monday night the children of
S. S. No. 5, Porter's Hill put on
their program which was good, each
one taking his or her part well. It
certainly reflects credit to the tea-
cher* Miss Elva Elliott, and others
who helped train the children as each
number was given without a hitch.
The children spoke out. so well and
good' order was given throughout the
lengthy program. One number which
was excepti:anally..good and brought
forth loud clapping and shouts of.en-
core, was given. by four of the older
girls, dressed .in Alice Blue, who sang
"illy Pretty Alice Blue Gown." Then
four of the older boys.. came on' the
scene (as boys always rill) and the
eight gave the cross ,country waltz.
Another pretty drill was an Indian
drill all in costume with, bow and
arrow. This drill finish ed with the
singing of Red Wing.
Mr. Fred Pickard acted as chair-
man. Mrs. Pickard had charge of
the music, Chas. Wilson,'• general
manager. At the end of the program
Mr. Les. Cox. moved a vote of thanks
after which the children sang "Santa
is coming to Town," when in came
Santa with a generous bunch of
Christmas presents and candy for all.
God Save the King brought the happy
evening to a close.
