'Statement On Wages
By Trucker
Mr. M. E. Clarke, Seaforth truck-
er, who testified before the Chevier
Royal Commission on Transportation
on Tuesday, said that he did not keep
time books for his four drivers, be-
cause he did not know what time
they had off. Clarke stated that his
drivers were paid $15 a week. "I don't
think $15 a week is a fair wage and
I would like to pay more but I can't
because I am not making enough pro-
fit."
Private carriers should be forced
to take out public • commercial vehic-
les licenses and this would relieve
the rate situation somewhat, witness
testified.
