In spite of the disagreeable weather
on Sunday a good many were out to
church and Sunday School.
On Wednesday the young ladies of
our church will meet at the home of
Mrs. Verna Harris to quilt their auto-
graph quilt. The young men are in:

given. Mr. Geo. Elliott of Clinton,
was chairman, and with his usual wit

gave two very sweet duets, accompan-
ied on the guitar. Mrs. Gordon Orr
a solo and encore. Both were well gi-
ven. Little Jean Elliott contributed
a solo and reading. Readings by Bet-
ty Harris, Isobel Woods, Fred Elliott
and Billie McIlwain, whistling number
by Dora Harrison,' cowboy songs by
Erie McAllister, accompanying him-
self on the guitar. Lucky tickets had
been sold by the groups on Christ-
mas gifts and a quilt . Mrs. Thos. El-
liott got the quilt which was donated
by Mrs. Fred Elliott. Other lucky
holders of tickets were, Eric McAllis-
ter, Jinn Howard, Mrs. H. Horton,
Mary Torrance, Mrs. Jim Harrison,
Morris Hicks, Mrs. Ernie Bell, Billie
McAllister, A tasty lunch was sere
ed. Proceeds amounted to $25.00.

er, Mr. David Cantelon.
Mrs. M. T. Coxless was the guest last
week of relatives at Mitchell and
Staffa and was accomuanied on her
return home by Mrs. Duncan Colqu-
houn, who spent a few days with
Mr. Corless and family and Clinton
friends one relatives.
HOLMESVILLE
Visitors with Rev. and Mrs. Her-
bert at the parsonage for the week-
end were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Her-;
bert of Moorefield, and Mr. and Mrs.
J. C. King of Hickson.
Mrs. Elmer Potter and baby, Helen,
are spending a week with the lady's
parents at Teeswater.
Little, Miss Betty Ward,- grand-
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Cud-
more, who recently underwent an op-
eration for appendicitis in Clinton
Hospital, is progressing very favor-
ably.
We were glad to see Mrs. Lorne
Jervis out again on Sunday and hope
she will continue to improve.
Y.P.U. this Friday evening will
be in charge of Miss Olive Mair, Fel-
lowship Convenor. It is expected a
good program will be presented.
Quite a number from here attended
the Commencement exercises of the
C.C.I. on Thursday and Friday even-
ings of last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Potter visited
at Mitchell on Friday.
RECEIVES PROMOTION
Alex. Pearson, who has managed
the Swift Canadian since its estab-
lishment here has received a well de-
served promotion. He goes to Han-
over as assistant manager of their
$50,000 plant there which employs
about 100 men. J. C. Long becomes
manager of the Brussels plant where
he has been employed.
